The aircraft appears to have been converted from a Boeing 737-300 passenger aircraft. A prominent feature of this command post is a fairing on top of the forward fuselage which could house a SATCOM antenna. It is expected to have secure datalink and ECM devices installed. The aircraft also adopts a new light grey color scheme replacing the orignal white. This new B-737 airborne command post is expected to make PLA's C3I capability more flexible and survivable in the event of possible war against Taiwan.
