Not so different to what the Australian and the US are doing to Chinese journalists in their respective countries...

Regardless, the use of "National Security" excuse has been abused so much (both by China and the US and allies) to the point that this is merely an excuse to shut and restrict those that they didn't like... be it people, tech, or companies... there doesn't seem to be any different in it's use between the authoritarian China and the liberal west...

At least we didn't assassinate as casually as the Americans did.

We don't assassinate journalists like the Russians. Osama Bin Laden is not someone you just ignore. Same for the Iranian General who ordered the embassy attack in Iraq. Who by the way met with them afterwards, probably to congratulate or perhaps planned more attacks.
