China's Top Legislature, Japan's House of Councilors Restart Regular Dialog

China's top legislature, the National People's Congress and Japan's House of Councilors have restarted a bilateral mechanism for regular exchanges in Beijing.

The two sides discussed a series of common concerns, including China-Japan relations, economic ties, environmental protection collaboration, people-to-people exchanges as well as some global and regional issues.

Both sides expressed willingness to enhance exchanges and contribute to the improvement of China-Japan relations.

The meeting was previously slated for 2013 in Beijing, but was suspended due to deterioration of China-Japan ties.

Amazing, my friend. It seems that the recent revision of article 9 have truly emboldened the Japanese Government and Legislative Members to making bolder , symbolic gestures in regards to relations with China. The fact that High Councillors of all parties have visited China is tantamount to a signal of new regional dynamics. My friend, this happening in tandem with the new talks of instituting a new constitution , with greater Japanese security responsibilities, and at the same time with continued delay of US military base in Okinawa, the prevention of Henoko development ---- i believe , and with great confidence, this is indicating a general trend in Japan in context to US positionism.

The past cannot be erased but the future can be created , i believe we can create a beautiful future together.

Anyways, this development follows the visit of Mr. Matsuo Yamaguchi , Head of the Komeito Party, to China where he met with deputy director at the Institute of Japanese Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences to discuss historical issues and the future trend of the China-Japan relationship.

Amazing, my friend. The development is incremental, but the direction is assuring, my friend. And the near-historical examples you have provided all indicate the direction toward Japan's greater involvement and participation in regional affairs as an independent state actor freed from the yokes of US militarism.

I got some very inner-circle information as to the pressure the US put before Ma Administration decided to launch a trip to Taiping; that's scary, my friend. Now I can really really sympathize with the Japanese administrations, including Mr. Abe's. In this light, those incremental but poignant moves are of greater importance than they initially seem.

Do American also intervene domestic policy making and foreign policy of Taiwan? I believe Japan is suffered the most by American's intervention on policy making. On the other hand, South Korea is somewhat independent on that aspect, since they joined AIIB and realized FTA with China.
However, I'm not sure about American's influence on Taiwan. For my understanding, Taiwan politic is all about the conflict between Blue and Green camp, like the issue of Sunflower movement and textbook revision, self identity between Chinese or Taiwanese .

Certainly it does and frankly much more than I would anticipate. And I am sure Taiwan receives some 20% of the pressure Japan receives from the US. I can't simply imagine the extent of it.

The US influence is not as strong as it is in Japan, for sure, and that's mostly due to the presence of China and Taiwan's lack of sovereign status. But the pressure is there. I had the chance to have some insight during the process of Ma's Taiping visit (which was, in fact, planned to be held much earlier.
