Google earth uses image stitching to attach their satellite pix, so they would be slight 'defirmations', dams or any structure would have slight elastic expansion to cope with different temperatures. Actually that's expansion, deformation is permanent and dangerous. All structures have some allowance for expansion. In Three Gorges Dam case, its the Google image fusion, if that dam deformed by that much as per Google image it would have collapse in a jiffy.
