What Indians don't realize is if they keep diverting water then all their plans to increase trade connectivity via river ports to the North East (by river, which is the cheapest) will cease to exist.

Which is actually great for us. An under-connected NE is great as our captive market for manufactured and smuggled items and cheap supply hinterland for raw materials.

Correction, not being built, already completed, unless you are talking about the western route which was just a conceptual plan.

No, the government is saying this. China's water diversion do not affect India on a large scale. China has only 3 tributary that contribute to Brahmaputra. And the river is mostly in Bangladesh. If China divert the river, it will directly affect you more than us.

If you follow UN conventions. (Which most of the times you don't) you can't deprive lower riparian countries of water.

And tbh, you can't divert an entire river that big.

What happened before 1959 to the water tower? Tibet is your water tower. India has enough water resources.

Speaking of Tibetan separatists, India provided asylum to Tibetans. We didn't arm them, rather we were too poor to arm them. Also, there was no US India conspiracy since India wasn't allied with US.

I think the real reason is that India can not even arm itself.
