China's new 'Look West' policy to give primacy to ties with India, says exp

facepalm....difference between official policy and individual opinions

LOL you think statements are released without the party's consent? and that to one that questions the premise that holds the Pak-Chn relations.

Well Pakistanis won't like the idea of India-China friendship.

Even normalization of ties between the two will give chilling experiance to strategic thinkers of Pakistan in general, our great great defense analyst Zaid Hamid in particular.

I now expect some artificially engineered Muslim unrest in the Chinese province to highlight that China needs Pakistan to contain the Muslim extremism.. Chinese reaction to that may not be similar to that of USA though...

Of course India is important to China's geopolitical calculation. But compare to US, Europe, Japan and the far east, Russia,Latin America, middle East, Africa, Australia or Pacific, India is insignificant.

Its depends which news you want to assume fabricated and which not. one can say a day, a night and a night, a day.

Hindi Chini bhai bhai reloaded

On a serious note ... We must take steps towards normalization of ties with China. No one will gain with the eye for an eye policy. Our trading ties with china are already good ... lets try to make good diplomatic ties as well.

For sensible and rational people this is the only logical course of action. In the not to distant future India and china will be in the top 2/3 economies and given between them they represent 2 BN+ people the only sensible move is closer ties. I genuinely hope to see the day when China and India forge a strong relationship casting everyone else aside- forget Pakistan, forget the US- together India and China could DOMINATE the world stage. They have incredibly complinatary economies and what they could do together is immense. It would only be in the West's interest for these two to be competitors taking chunks out of one another. Up till now he leaders on both sides have been surprisingly savvy and maintained cordial relations- this should be a foundation for much stronger ties.

One small annoucement from China and some of the members are happy to forge a relationship with China forgetting about the precursor to 1962 and forgetting about all the relationships India has buillt with countries like Vietnam.

What is that gesture that China has done since post 1962? It is not India which needs to make the gesture but China needs to. Indians should not forget about the backstabbing China did.

1951 - China starts building roads in Akshai Chin in secrecy though Akshai Chin is a disputed area

1954 - Nehru signed a treaty with highlight being Panchsheel principles - Nehru shouts from the roof - Hindi-Chini Bhai Bhai while China informs India nothing of the roads being built in Akshai Chin

1957 - India discover roads in Akshai Chin built by Chinese while encouraging Nehru about the friendship while violating the Panchsheel principles

I am not going into who was the rightful owner(infact I believe Chinese have more claim to Akshai Chin than India) but about how China approached a friendship agreement and violating the principles of it.

Turn the wheel to the present situation. China is everywhere trying to forge its friendships with India's neighbours while already having a strong friendship with India's rival Pakistan. What is China's intention here in the Indian Ocean? What is the gesture China has done for India to forget about everything strategically and make a U turn? Why is this short sightedness? Do you want to ditch your relationships with countries like Vietnam, Japan etc?
