Even with doubling current Budget, China's National Defence Budget still only a mere 2% of their GDP.

China's Defence Budget is Decided by Open National People's Congress (NPC) that have thousands of Representatives. So it would be impossible to have 'Shadow budget'
If that's like what your propaganda media said, China would have 6 Aircraft Carriers patrolling the Pacific at this moment.


Maybe it's because some of Component that included in Defence Budget of western countries didn't included in China's Defence Budget.
Like Budget for PAP (People's Armed Police) kinda like national guard in western countries not included in Chinese Defence Budget while western countries included that in their defence budget.
Also they have extra-budgetary revenues from military-owned commercial enterprises.

Obsolete if inside 5,000 Km zone of your near peer competitor (in this case China, Russian and US).

But not in the far away Ocean like in the middle of Pacific or Atlantic.

The real reason Chinese build Aircraft Carriers are for Policy Action to Small & Medium countries. This one Carrier Battle Group is enough to send such countries back to stone age.

A couple of this also can send Big but Pariah country like India to oblivion

Not entirely true.

Iran strategy is to deter United States.
Iran appears to have borrowed a lot of strategy from North Korea.

Iran built thousands of cheap short range ballistic missiles that can totally destroy all Saudi's oil refineries.
Iran also have many drones and have already proven their drones can sneak through Saudi Patriot missile defense and accurately hit Saudi's refinery.

Iran is also taking yet another leaf from the North Korean and have built over 30 midget submarine each armed with heavy torpedo that can sink a large warship.

Worst come to the worst, Iran can also seal off the Persian gulf.

The whole goal of invading Afghanistan and Iraq was Iran.

Their own war simulation in 2002 (Millennium Challenge), one of the most expensive one of it's kind, showed that in Persian Gulf, Iran can sink their entire carrier fleet in few minutes. their generals have admitted Iran was the next target after Iraq, and George W Bush has admitted that it was his security advisers which stopped the invasion plan.


Since 2002, Iran has created and developed dozens of game changing weapons and proxy forces that makes any thought of attacking Iran a wet dream, that's why US fled the Afghanistan, they are fully disappointed from their master plan, there is no more justification for the costs.
