China planes do not need to compete worldwide. Cos China market itself is already the biggest market. Most Chinese airliner are state controlled. If CPC want certain plane to be a commercial success, it can put a huge order of 500 with no bidding process and that plane will be success.

Look at Russia, they have more experience in building plane and yet none of their commercial plane is a success. They dont have the money and market. Even the plane is gold. Lacking a domestic controlled market plus money is doomed to fail in the first plane.
