My guess is also thst it would be an upgraded version from the current Yuan class as it doesn’t take 5 years to build these submarine as they have been mass produced. Equally I don’t think it is going to be major change as 5-year is too short for that. Another possibility is that the long delivery time is probably deliberate as the existing submarines still have few years’ good life and also it takes time to build the required infrastructure to build locally.
