Durian is literally disgusting

The taste is bipolar, I can't decide if it tastes like puke or something sweet

You could concentrate the odour and use it to gas people

Maybe you buy a wrong durian. Or you eat it not in the best time. You should eat it when it has become ripe. Some Durian plantation produce better taste of Durian than the other plantation. And since you live in a country which dont have habit to eat Durian, so you will get less variety of Durian compared to nations which has big Durian consumer market like in South East Asia and now start to reach China as well.

West Sumatran people ( Minang) like me eat Durian with sticky rice (beras ketan) and coconut. Better taste and will be more economical

Same here in Indonesia although our land produce many Durian for domestic market. The most expensive fruit IMO.

I think the cilantro thing is a genetic trait. Don't know about durian.

Don't they have a foul smell, some compare it to 'raw sewage' plus many Asian countries e.g. Thailand, Japan, Singapore they are supposedly banned in public places due to the overpowering smell.

It's an acquired taste...think of cheese with its pungent smell
