China's defence chief meets Tajikistani counterpart
Liang Guanglie, Chinese state councilor and minister of national defense, met with visiting Sherali Khairulloyev, defense minister of Tajikistan, and his party.
Liang Guanglie said that China and Tajikistan are linked by mountains and rivers and there exists not fundamental conflict of interests but a history of friendly exchanges between the two countries and peoples. Over the past 19 years since China and Tajikistan established diplomatic relations, the bilateral ties have maintained smooth development as reflected in constant high-level contacts and increasingly deepening of political mutual trust.
The defense departments of the two countries have continuously strengthened exchanges and cooperation within the framework of the bilateral relationship and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, attaining a series of remarkable achievements.
Liang Guanglie said that China speaks highly of Tajikistans adherence to the one-China policy and appreciates its firm support to China on the major issues of Taiwan, Tibet and Xinjiang, which are related to China's core interests.
China respects Tajikistani people in independently choosing their own social development road according to their national conditions and feels pleased with their achievements made in national construction.
China is willing to make concerted efforts with Tajikistan to enhance the development level of relations between the two countries and the two militaries on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit.
Khairulloyev said that Tajikistan appreciated China's long-term precious assistance and support to Tajikistan. He hoped the two sides could strengthen high-level contacts, promote friendly exchanges, and enhance coordination and cooperation under the guidance of the "Shanghai Spirit" within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
