China's 'Best And Brightest' Leaving U.S. Universities And Returning Home

There's this little thing called visiting restrictions. 300,000 Americans can't just fly in to Beijing and stay. They have to go home. Sort of a crazy notion this thing called "rules". Same as the 300,000+ Chinese students here. There are restrictions...they have to go home unless they find some company that will sponsor them to stay.
They don't have to go ,they chose to go. US is not like China, many people live in US with any proper documents for decades, you are still trying to deny the drastic change in these years which is just way too obvious.

.
Yes, there are Americans living in China.

But you mean 300,000 Americans can book a flight to Beijing tomorrow and stay as long as they'd like? That's awesome!
beijing air port alone has to handle 20 million none chinese passengers alone in a year```and the biggest Western expats in China are American and the number is still growing dramatically, so here we go, few days ago, we introduced new immigration laws in order to provide better service and security to foreign people````I guess you didnt 'hear' any of these facts from your imaginary friends dont you?

So yes 82% of the 300,000+ students go back to China. What a shocker!!
there are many ways to remain in the U.S and U.K like most of my friends did``when student visa ends you can always find ways to renew, to ignorant people like you wouldnt know``just now that western countries seem less appealling to us, so most them dont want bother to renew their visa and choosing to come back``now get it? you cold war minded Americans

This has already posted in another thread a month or so ago.
Forbes is twisting things. 82.3% are returning because they CAN'T STAY IN THE US!!!! It's just impossible. As simple as that. There's somewhere around 300,000+ Chinese students in the US. You can't have 300,000 people cut in front of the Visa line. There's a set limit for how many students each year can stay after graduation.

(This only goes up to 2012...by 2016 the number was 300,000!!!!)

Every year the number of Chinese students
in the US goes up...and every year the number of students who are forced to go back also goes up.

By the way 17.7% of 300,000+ (every year!!) is still a brain drain. Each graduate needs a company to sponsor their stay. So these people will have to be the best of the bunch. If the company ends up not liking them it is back on the plane to China.

20 years ago they would stay in US anyway cause US is not really a country you have to stay with proper document, but now they chose to come back to China cause China offers better opportunities now. See how the world can change in merely 10-20 years.

lol.....They have raised the same topic and going on again.

People are expecting to see a recede of net immigration from anywhere. In the US, there are not many for a Chinese to go for to stay after their J-1 finished, you either go for another J-1 or you get the H1-B or EB-5 (Investment visa) to stay in the US.

A lot of them have simply choose to go home, Unlike Student from Australia or UK, where they have unconditional non-immigrant treaty visa (Such as E-3 for Australian) the chances to stay in the US is actually quite slim.

We Indians swallow up all the L-1 and H-1B visas. We take more than 30% of the L-1 and more than 60% of the H-1B. That means, other countries are going to struggle with getting work visas. Which means they will have to leave the US. So, it may not necessarily be out of choice that the Chinese students are returning.

Simple fact is they return cause China can offer better opportunities and more money now which their
predessesors can only dream of, you Indians will understand when you reach that point.

China launches revamped ‘green cards’ for foreigners

China will replace green cards issued to foreigners with “smart card” versions beginning in July as part of the government’s push to improve its imported talent scheme, state media reported.

Under the new directive from the Ministry of Public Security, which is in charge of residence affairs in China, holders of foreigners’ permanent residence cards can apply to renew the current permits with a new one embedded with a readable chip that contains identity information, according to the state-run Xinhua news agency.

The card can be swiped at various government agencies and institutions, making it easier and faster for foreigners to carry out tasks such as buying train tickets, Xinhua cited an unnamed ministry official as saying.

To ensure the new system is implemented without a glitch, training will be carried out by the end of June for staff at government agencies as well as railways, airports, banks, insurance companies and hotels, the official told Xinhua.

While Trump curbs immigration, China’s giving out more green cards … but can it attract more foreigners?

The introduction of the new green card is part of efforts by government leaders, including President Xi Jinping, to clear the path for skilled foreigners to settle in China.

In the 10 years after 2004 when the green card scheme was introduced, 7,356 foreigners have been granted permanent residency, even though some 600,000 foreigners were estimated to have lived in China. The number of cards issued has risen recently, with 1,576 foreigners approved for permanent residency last year, 163 per cent more than in 2015.

I don't think China pays nearly as much as the Americans do.

Wake me up when your graduates get paid $70000-110,000 a year.

China's permanent residency is good only for the rich or ones who are very successful. It's not for ordinary folk.

On average income China is not up to par with developed countries but in big cities and big companies they get almost same or even more than how much they can get in US, besides, it's much much more easier to find a job in China than anywhere in the world now, people have the luxury of choosing employers here. speaking of rich and poor gap, that's true everywhere and those who study in US are not peasants who will not come back working in the field and growing crops, their careers in China are more promising than in US. Is India's wealth evenly distributed?

I'm pretty sure more than half of those who returned would much rather stay in the US if they were given Visas.

Is India's wealth evenly distributed?

Better than China.

China is dominating Global Economics and industry,a hell of an effort done by a nation.

Sure people can overstay...but you won't be able to work in corporate America with that degree if your ID is not in order. You'll join the thousands of illegal Chinese stuck in some menial job cleaning clothes/linens or doing food takeout (or worse a red light job) 80 hours a week in the Chinatown section of major cities (and BTW add yourself to the urban poor statistic...since you'll be living in some crappy city apartment with a bunch of other illegals...you certainly won't be living in a nice suburb). So yes maybe in the past it was worth it because things were so bad in China anything would be tolerable. Today the average college educated person would probably rather go back to China than put themselves through that.
