New Delhi: After offering to mediate between Indian and Pakistan, China has now expressed its willingness to change the name of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to assuage India's concerns about the project.

India has been against the CPEC on the ground that it passes through Azad Kashmir (Azad Kashmir) – an area that is an integral part of India but is now under illegal occupation by Pakistan.

The offer was made by Chinese Ambassador to India Luo Zhaohui under the pretext of not disrupting bilateral relations between India and China.

Luo argued that CPEC is for promoting economic cooperation and connectivity and that Beijing has no plans to get involved in the sovereignty and territorial disputes between India and Pakistan.

“It (CPEC) has no connections to or impact on sovereignty issues. Even we can think about renaming the CPEC. China and India have had successful experience of delinking sovereignty disputes with bilateral relations before. China is sincere in its intention to cooperate with India on the One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative, as it is good for both of us," he said.

The Ambassador even denied that China has been aiding Pakistan. He said that China's initiatives focus more on reaping its own benefits rather than supporting the stance of any other nation.

"We always put China first and we deal with problems based on their own merits," he said.

On Sunday, Pakistan and China agreed to jointly oversee the CPEC and ensure transparency in the project as an agreement in this regard was signed between the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Beijing.

A combined initiative focusing on enhancing economic cooperation between China and Pakistan, the CPEC is being hailed to create 85,000 jobs for Pakistani youth. It is being facilitated to modernize infrastructure and transport networks in Pakistan through the creation of special economic zones and energy projects. The initial proposal was made in April 2015 during ChinesePresident Xi Jinping`s official state visit to Pakistan.

On April 20, 2015, Pakistan and China signed an agreement to commence work on the USD 46 billion agreement, with approximately USD 28 billion worth of fast-tracked projects to be developed by the end of 2018.

India has been against the CPEC on the ground that it passes through ******* – an area that is an integral part of India but is now under illegal occupation by Pakistan.

The problem is highlighted above.

How does renaming it change anything !!

Seriously, one expected better from the Chinese.

Renaming might help.

For example, if it is renamed as may I suggest ChIP (China-Indian-Pakistan) then it means the status of Kashmir between China-Indian-Pakistan would no longer an issue as all three would continue interpreting their current positions until final resolution.

.
Why should Pakistan rename its project because of a jealous country? And Indians are not jealous just because of name, their pains are deeper than a placenta goes in a body.

Indians are both jealous and afraid from CPEC. Jealous because it is shifting the tide of Pakistan's economy, giving it a global prominence and regional control - and afraid because China will end up existing in the North, West and South of India. As a worse case scenario, India used to imagine a two-front war but who's going to plan a three-front war and still think they will come out victorious against two Nuclear countries simultaneously?

So leave Indians. Some time its is best to leave an injured soul broken drug addict alone... so he may fight with his wounds and addictions slowly - perhaps.

You are doing Randi Rona. It is not India's proposal, its China who wants to change the name, not India.
India's objection is about using territory that is an integral part of India but in Pakistani occupation.
If China really wants India to be involved then they should get out of the disputed territory. India will give them passage through Himachal Pradesh or Uttarakhand and they are free to take it via Pakistan.
China does not need to appease India. Our objection is a token objection and a caution to China that the dispute over the territory is a bilateral matter with Pakistan and there has been several wars and military conflicts over it and in future conflicts, their investments should not give them an excuse to poke their nose in a bilateral dispute.

If war breaks out in between Pak v India, they just know the first lot of infrastructure to be targeted is the CPEC link in Pakistan occupied Kashmir, looks like the Chinese are feeling the heat or they want to protect their 40 odd billion investment at any cost. The already reiterated they will not come between the dispute between the 2 and cant take their words back. sticky situation!

Introspection time for Pakistani's is the all whether ally ready to give up and leave them high and dry?

Seriously, recently i've been noticing plenty of so-called Chinese say this do that to India news, however i've a hard time to find out where does most of them came from, majority of them came from the opinion section that should not even considered to be China's official news
For example for today, "People Daily" official media of PRC, i simply failed to find anything thats closed to the OP news
The only one related to India is this one
Revolution sets China and India apart

Indians can think it is a trap for them. For Pakistan, it is CPEC is bringing new hopes - and don't forget Pakistan is the country where China enjoys highest approval rating in the world so no one is going to buy Indian garbage here.

On Debt, Nawaz scum and his lunatic economic minister is responsible. Its his failure which will get better his political head rolls. Again, Pakistanis are hopeful!

thats China's call i cannot and will not comment on that as it does not matter to me or the Mods & admin here will bann me again :D

so the point is we do not want to be part of any China OBOR project and we had made it clear to president Xi when last time he came to india and thats why he got agitated and all talks from there after were not that fruitfull and China despite all theatrics is tryoing to armtwist india to agree to join OBOR projects which we have said a "FIRM NO" which China and its party members are not able to accept and all this china's oppostion to each indan move in UN or NSG or any other forum is just a follow on effect but now even China knows these theatrics are not going to work on NaMo led government rather they are taking the already bad realations to a new low so now china is trying to cut ice with help of both Russia and Australia and rest you speculate yourself
