What's new

China will create own Christian belief system amid tensions with church, says official

can you please elaborate a little more on those campaigns. Can you provide a link so that I read about them.
I don't know if there is a English link or not, but people can easily get the search result in Chinese.

The scenerio is that China then resemble some countries in Eastasia today, many youngsters became monks in the temple and imposed a huge financail burden on the nation. So our emperor ordered to shut off most temples, forfeit their properties and force those monks back to normal life. After those campaigns, Buddhisms never become a mainstream again in our daily life.

i'm not joking :smokin:, then again i grew up in the west so not surprising.
Well, one more bit of information to show how Koreans have become ultra nationalistic. 2 years ago, South Korea demanded China and its media to change its capitol 汉城 (city on Han River but Han is also same character as Han Chinese ethnic, lol), to 首尔 (which is phonetic translation of Seoul). It's like China demand all English speaking countries to change China to Zhongguo! lol

.
Create our own Christian belief system is not enough, I think China should create a Chinese religion that all religions are welcome first they have to convert to Chinese and then they can practice their respective religions within China and feel free to change religion if they want..And as Chinese, they can't kill other Chinese because of the faith, they can only die for China's cause and not for religion.

What you guys think of that

Lol. Chinese should revise Christian history like what Viets do with Chinese history.

Aside from the "localized" Catholicism, we already have our own "Christian denomination" which is quite infamous for promoting bloc voting during elections.

Everyone in democracies votes in blocks, by definition. People who think alike vote alike. In other news, grass is green, the sky is blue.

The game is to persuade people to your point of view, and become part of your block.

hey, buddy, we are talking about finos here who, under your hundred-year tutelage, developed a system of patronage and vote banks in which a client who doesn't vote the way his boss likes him to gets cruelly punished and in which entire families are massacred for challenging the system. many are the abominations of finos' monstrously disgusting "democracy", but you angloamericans are assuredly the frankstein to finos' monster.

What is this denomination called?
Iglesia ni Cristo

Actually this one is propagated in their church - they would support a candidate during elections and tell their people to vote only for the candidates the INC wants to win...well this is from what I have heard from other people.

did not mean to offend I just assumed most Chinese are buddhist and follow the principles.

no offense but most Chinese are like drones in mentality.
China is continental size and one of the most populous country for a long time, diversity in thought and custom come naturally.

But Chinese choose/seek uniformity, that does not mean that Chinese individual are drone.

United we have always been one of the most powerful nation on earth for the past two thousand years.

Therefore it is logical for majority of Chinese to seek unity because it serve our interest, be it individually or collectively.

I am Christian too and Christian generally think differently from many PRC non Christian. Christian like to repent and introspect. PRC like to 天大地大我最大,死不认错。

Christian fear God, but non Christian fear no one.

But I realize Chinese Christian nowadays are very much more different than before. Nowadays the big problem of Chinese Christian is they are very Pharisee 法利赛人, 假冒为善

Also many people go to church to find romance. 去教会找男女朋友,甚至搞大人家肚子就跑。有一些女教徒也是一边拼命上床, 一边努力反对奸淫。

耶稣的脸都被丢光了。
Religion rules by law and guilt.

Chinese culture rules by honor and shame.

You are after all Chinese judging by your last sentence.

In Confucius teaching,

敬鬼神而远之,respect the gods/ghost/spirit/religious custom/supernatural but stay away from/do not dwell in it.
子不語怪力亂神, Gentlemen should not talk about supernatural things.

Confucius is a pragmatist and has more concern about the living and physical world then the spiritual world. Confucius once said, "How can one know about death before he knows clearly about life?"

Because of Confucism's disinclination towards supernaturality, Chinese become more rational in decision making.

In Chinese history, there is no equivalent in the west's organized Catholic church.

In China since ancient time, the government is the church. It provide all the functionality like education/teaching of the mass, setting of ethical standard, settlement of dispute and unity(because of this, Chinese intellectual generally do not find the needs for supernatural). The only different is that it is a lot less supernatural and a lot less rigid.

It is therefore, unsurprising that the Chinese government would defend its orthodoxy to the heart and mind with the same jealousy that the Pope would defend Catholicism.

And it is also why, Chinese would appeared to be drone to outsider.

Chinese congregate towards the center authority for guidance just like believers would towards a religious authority. The difference being it is not religious but more philosophical.

There is separation of Church and state in the West. That distinction is a lot more blur in China.

One cannot be said to be better or worse. We are just different.

I wonder how far China's advancement will become if majority of the people start to believe the earth is 6,000 year old, a wooden boat the size of half a football field can fit all the animals in the world in it with all the food and compartments, a man living in a whale's stomach for three days lives to tell about it, an omnipotent being that can do anything but need sacrifice and worship and rest on Sunday.

Don't they have philosophical/spiritual values in the form of Confucianism and Taoism aside from the traditional ancestor worship?

.
This is a pure interference in the religious matter of Christians.
China just cannot tolerant tens of millions of its people, most of whom are Han's, got controlled by foreigners. I think it is very reasonable. It would be hundreds of times bigger threats than Islam if those people become extreme some day in the future, look at what Fa Lun Kong did in these years. So they must be under the management of China's own Christian administration.

True patriots of China will never put their religion belief over their nation, if they are not atheists. But our history told us that many theists just fail to make it and that is why we always be careful about religions and must ensure that they are not out of control.

Those are just much harder than the Bible to learn. And in today's China, anything from western countries are viewed as "cool" and popular. On the other hand, our own culture and theology are more viewed as out of date.
