China Weighing Occupation of Former U.S. Air Base at Bagram: Sources

It is very interesting that Chinese people need such a compromise in order to survive. That really speaks something about what they have, which isn't sufficient for them to survive.

In history, every time China entered the era of Empire, the Vietnamese were unlucky, so I can understand their worries.
During the period of Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin, China needed to look for opportunities, so they did make some compromises or disguises.

I am going to ignore the first sentence, which doesn't seem to refer to my comment.
As of the second one, let me rephrase. Maybe what they have doesn't give them the opportunities they need to survive. So they compromise or disguise, which is just an euphemism for lying. :)

Don't do it, China friendly advice

Afghanistan is a quick stand, you can only somewhat control it by proxies (as in Afghan themselves)

100% agreed but read my post about Hybrid/Assymetric occupation of Bagram.

- Give Afghanistan AF 12-14 JF17s either new or from the current stock (Pilots support provided ;) )
- Give Afghanistan AF 18 F7pgs from current stock (Pilots support provided ;) )
- Give Afghanistan 8-10 CH4 drones (Pilots support provided ;) )
- Implant SSG & Chinese Special forces within Badri 313 units at Bagram

(Pilots support provided ;) )= Pakistani pilots supported by Chinese engineers/maintenance crew/Weapons

There issue solved :) I have a feeling Taliban would be more than happy to agree to this given the large investment package being proposed...

Many Chinese dont understand that if China wants to be a super power then it has to tame Afghanistan. China is investing hundred billion in Pakistan and most of the security issues have been due to terrorist from afghanistan who were supported by India.

If China wants to protect its large investment in the BRI then it has to occupy Afghanistan by cooperating with Pakistan/IEA. That is the simple truth.

Just like any other investment, people need to consider the potential payout and alternative opportunities. It is not like there is only one place to throw money at and there is unlimited money.

China is making significant investments in EVs. EVs are powered by lithium batteries. Most of the worlds lithium supply is in Afghanistan.

In the next decade Lithium will become the new OIL. OIL will become irrelevant as Lithium batteries become far more effecient. I havnt even mentioned the value of rare earth minerals and Chinas monopoly over them.

Chinese business people are far more clever than you or I :D

We will see on that, on how many of the people that supported Deng-Jiang go to jail.
Oh well, as said, a house cleaning is good.

Do you know Li Rui?
He used to be Mao Zedong's secretary and was later dismissed because he was a rightist. He hated the CCP all his life and asked that his body not be covered with the party flag after his death.
But Deng Xiaoping still let him join the Central Advisory Committee, which holds real power. Her daughter joined the USA. She is an extremely anti Communist Republican, and published a book in the USA.
In the book, Li Rui scolded Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping. I won't say how to scold Mao Zedong. He scolded Deng Xiaoping as a liar. Those who hold real power in the Central Advisory Committee all are fake Rightists, and Li Rui and others are signboards used to deceive Americans.

BTW:
Li Rui and others opposed the construction of the Three Gorges dam, but Jiang Zemin built the Three Gorges dam.
Li Rui and others opposed China's recovery of Hong Kong in 1997, but Deng Xiaoping took back Hong Kong in 1997.
Li Rui and others support PLA doing business, but Jiang Zemin banned PLA from doing business.
Li Rui and others do not like Hu Jintao who quickly suppressed the rebellion in Tibet, but Deng Xiaoping trained Hu Jintao as his successor.
Almost all these rightist proposals will be implemented in the opposite direction by Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin.

Li Rui doesn't want the party flag to cover his body. He hates the left. Xi Jinping gave Li Rui's body the party flag and buried his ashes in the middle of the leftist Communists.

Why haven't Americans extracted it?

More like no rail access to a deep sea port

Without security there is no rule of law... without rule of law you cannot have business. Who is going to settup a business where their is crime and bomb blasts???

Positive FACT is so far since the Taliban took over the security/Law and Order situation has dramastically improved in Afghanistan. Even those protesting against the regime in Kabul will admit to that.

Terrorist attacks, rape, looting, and even petty crimes have dramatically fallen... At this rate Afghanistan will be far safer than Pakistan pretty soon.
