China vows to act against matchmaking centres fleecing Pakistani, Chinese youth
BY STAFF REPORT , (LAST UPDATED 4 SECONDS AGO)

ISLAMABAD: Chinese embassy Saturday said that China is cooperating with Pakistani law enforcement agencies to launch crack down on illegal matchmaking centers after taking notice on reports that recently some unlawful matchmaking centers made illegal profits from brokering cross-national marriages.

“We notice that recently some unlawful matchmaking centers made illegal profits from brokering cross-national marriages. Both Chinese and Pakistani youths are victims of these illegal agents,” the spokesman said while responding to a question about some media reports suggesting that several illegal matchmaking centers in Pakistan were brokering marriages between Chinese and Pakistani citizens.

However, the spokesman strongly refuted allegations that there exists illegal human trafficking or even sales of human organs.

“The (media) reports about sales of organs are misleading and groundless. Both China and Pakistan adopt rule of law and firmly oppose human trafficking and sales of human organs … Chinese laws and regulations strictly prohibit cross-national matchmaking centers. No individual is allowed to engage in any form of such activity by deception or for profit,” the official said.

The Chinese embassy spokesman added that the Chinese government also strictly prohibits any organization or individual from buying or selling human organs in any form, or engaging in such activities.

“For those who constitute a crime, criminal responsibility shall be investigated in accordance with the law. We remind both Chinese and Pakistani citizens to remain vigilant and not to be cheated. We also welcome valuable clues to combat such offenses,” the spokesman added.

At the same time, the spokesman said, it is hoped that reports should be based on the facts.

“We hope that the public do not believe in misleading information and work together to safeguard China-Pakistan friendship,” the spokesman concluded.

It's good that they're speaking against it.

I hope that whoever was calling that guy, who made the earlier chinese thread, a foreign agent or false flagger etc... learns from this. You can post negatively about china without being a spy or something.

Prompt statement is appreciated, China needs to be very careful as anti-CPEC lobby is working tirelessly to sabotage it. But main blame lies on Pakistani authorities here where crime is happening and LEAs failing to take action.

But that report is full of lies and misleading information with inflamatory slanders, a China bashing propaganda piece.
China works with many neigboring countries like Vietnam, Myamar, North Korea to crack down human trafficking,it's nothing new, criminals tend to take advantage of people especially children and women of poor countries, it's two ways jobs, criminal groups from both countries form a partnership to make that happen so it requires governments of both countries to work together.

If they are Chinese citizens, they are subject to Chinese rules and laws, if they are Pakistani citizens, Pakistani government can ask for repatriation.

If a Chinese guys marries a Pakistani woman and that women is detained by Pakistani government, I don't think the Chinese husband has any right to demand the Pakistani government to release her, cause she is a Pakistani citizen and under Pakistani jurisdiction.

Good, there's bound to be unscrupulous characters who take advantage of the good will between countries.

Here's another case, although not Chinese related but it seems that there's plenty of criminals taking part in this;

Dubai: A man has been sentenced to 15 years in jail followed by deportation for raping and forcing a teen into prostitution after he brought her into the country claiming she was his daughter, a Dubai Court of First Instance heard on Wednesday.

The 49-year-old Pakistani defendant was charged with human trafficking, rape and running a brothel.

According to official records, the defendant tampered with the 13-year-old girl’s passport to make it appear she was his daughter then brought her to the UAE on a tourist visa two years ago.

He forced her to work in prostitution until a customer fell in love with her and fought with her trafficker when the latter tried to rape her for a third time.

The Pakistani victim said the defendant took advantage of her poor conditions back home and convinced her and her family that she would be making good money in Dubai.

“He raped me in Pakistan before we flew to Dubai together. He used to force me to have sex with 10 people each day at his brothel,” said the girl.

The defendant also raped her in Dubai and would beat her up if she refused.

The customer who had fallen in love with her told prosecutors that he tried to get her out of the brothel, but when he heard that the defendant raped her, he had a fight with the defendant and alerted Dubai Police in September of last year.

An Emirati policeman said: “A man called us to report a rape. When we went to the location he provided, we discovered it was a brothel and that the teen was forced to work in prostitution. We arrested two other women who were also practising prostitution.”

Dubai Police arrested the defendant and the man who reported the incident and both were charged with rape.

The man who alerted police was sentenced to three years in jail for rape as according to UAE law, having sex with a minor is considered rape.

The two Pakistani women were sentenced to three years in jail on prostitution charge.

All defendants will be deported after serving their jail terms and the Pakistani man sentenced to 15 years was additionally fined Dh100,000.

What's illegal in it? May be in China matchmaking is illegal but in Pakistan it's real deal!

I think arresting men and women for getting married is going to back fire.

We in Pakistan talk about the minority rights... what about a little talk about individual rights?

.
China returns hundreds of Vietnamese girls back to Vietnam every years, most of those Vietnamese girls were sold by people they know or even their relatives.

. .
Very common scam, Vietnamese girls pretend to marry Chinese men and run away with money.

Salaam

I'm actually surprised at how quickly the Chinese authorities have responded to this.

They really do keep an eye on the current issues and don't let issues become major problem before they take any action.
