China has urged Pakistan to take effective measures to stop the activities of East Turkistan Islamic Movement (TIM) militants present in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), reported BBC Urdu on Thursday.
According to the report, the Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi currently visiting Pakistan said that it was their belief that militants belonging to the TIM are influencing the Chinese province Xinjiang, which has a Muslim majority population.
Xinjiang, which is home to the Uighur Muslims, has faced increased terrorist activities in recent years, inviting a crackdown by Chinese forces. The restive province which shares a border with Pakistan, has been under heavy security since July 2009, when the Uighurs launched attacks on Han people in the regional capital Urumqi.
Sources within the Chinese Foreign Ministry, on condition of anonymity, told BBC that Chinese officials discussed the matter with Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari along with other officials during several meetings, where the Pakistani foreign secretary was also summoned.
The BBC Urdu report added that most of those belonging to the TIM have taken refuge in Pakistan’s tribal areas, from where they cross the border into China after receiving training.
Jiechi is also due to meet with Pakistan army chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani on Thursday to discuss the situation further.

.
Three pronged attack by America China and Pakistan can remove these militants once and for all.

.
What's the goal of TIM? Do they want to establish an independent state?

.
Well its the 2nd , thread which is posted in wrong, section.
You got, away with frist one, bt not this time.
Its our national political, section, its not world affairs, or strategic section , where you can, put anything ,pakistans international relations.
By the way, nice try!
But you see, its not going to work!

. . .
Oops.. This doesnt look good.. Pakistan needs to administer its FATA better.. After all the 1st A in FATA stands for ADMINISTERED.. Unfortunately that A seems to be missing totally in reality

.
I have no info about TIM, so I got a question. Do they have support among Uighurs in Xinjiang, like, do Uighurs actually want independence? I heard Uighurs face discrimination in Xinjiang, so that maybe could be an affecting factor.

. . .
their aim is to make an Independent Turkestan that was once "absorbed" into China...
Well, the second east Turkestan republic was indeed absorbed into China.

Hope one day Pakistan will realize that it is in their interest to eliminate all terrorist from their soil. You cannot ask decades to get the job done, if you have bandwidth issue, you have to allow UN/NATO to send their forces inside Pakistan.

China to Pakistan: "Do more!!"
No, that is a US thing.

The Chinese actually engage with civility, follow decorum and apparently had parents that taught them manners, unlike most of the officials in the US Government, Military and Intelligence Establishment.

Three pronged attack by America China and Pakistan can remove these militants once and for all.
Are you suggesting a 'three pronged attack' would succeed where a 'multi-pronged attack' with significantly more economic and military resources (NATO) has failed in Afghanistan?

If the solution was a military one alone, the US/NATO would not be lowering their 'definition of success' every month ...

Actually, what is needed is a one-prong attack. What is needed is for the Government of Pakistan to gain true sovereignty over the FATA, especially, at this point, in North Waziristan. The failure of the multi-pronged attacks of the past is that the only prong that is allowed to fight in, and, therefore, matters in, Pakistan, the PA, didn't show up for duty in North Waziristan.

Actully, its a messege from a long time natural strategic partner, who telling pakistan tobe ready to form, a joint militry action force , to establish peace in the region, & peace in the can only be achived , through the co-opreation of the regional powers, bt not by outsiders?
