ISLAMABAD: Iran’s inclusion in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor would beneficial for both Tehran and Islamabad, said China’s Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong on Monday.

In an interview with Iranian news agency, the Chinese ambassador said his country was looking forward to enhancing its cooperation with Iran through CPEC.

Iran had shown willingness to become part of the CPEC in a meeting between President Hassan Rouhani and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in New York on the sidelines of the latest session of the United Nations General Assembly.

“We think that Iran can also be a very important country along the Belt and the Road initiative, so we really look forward to enhance our cooperation with Iran,” Sun Weidong said.

“CPEC is a win-win cooperation so we are looking forward to explore the possibilities of cooperation among the all the regional countries”.

There are many projects under the CPEC framework that are being implementing or under construction in Pakistan, said the ambassador.

“There are 16 major projects that are under construction and Chinese side has already invested more than $13 billion,” he added.

The diplomat said CPEC has created tens of thousands of jobs opportunities in Pakistan.

China-Pakistan economic corridor (CPEC) is a mega project between the two countries under which China will invest $46 billion in Pakistan.

The economic corridor is about 3,000 kilometres long consisting of highways, railways and pipelines that will connect China’s Xinjiang province to Pakistan’s Gwadar port.

It would be welcoming to have Iran in CPEC and make CPEC a regional reality. Its only been two years since the announcement of CPEC so it will take time and a lot of effort and a lot of diplomacy.

If CPEC is to become a regional reality in south of asia then Iran will be needed along with our maritime neighbour OMAN from where we can access the Arabian peninsula and all its nations.

Sun Weidong added that China shares very good relations with Iran. “We think that Iran can also be a very important country along the Belt and the Road initiative, so we really look forward to enhance our cooperation with Iran.”

“CPEC is a win-win cooperation so we are looking forward to explore the possibilities of cooperation among the all the regional countries,” said the ambassador.

To a question that CPEC could be an energy line from Iran to China in the future, Weidong said, “We can explore such a possibility.”

While Modi was disgustingly throwing up on the tables during the BRICS meeting, Pakistan was busy forging new links with Iran through the CPEC infrastructure. Now that Chinese ambassador has also invited Iran into the project, the region, as expected, will see enhanced integration, trade, investment, and development. Modi's guests ran away from India without any fanfare and in bad taste due to Modi's vomiting and venom spewing, Pakistan is rapidly advancing and consolidating its bonds with regional countries. Pakistan is advancing while the world is laughing at the idiot jokers across out eastern border. while world leaders recognizing NS as a leader with vision, Modi is licking his wounds with dispair and disgruntlement. Jokers across the border have falling to disgrace due to their non-stop lies but these idiots are still dancing like brainless monkeys for their imaginary diplomatic success, 'Sir Ji Kal' strikes, and other non-sense claims.

Welcome to CEPC Iran. Now in no time paper work will be done too Congrats Iranian brothers

And no name of Afghanistan. As recently Afghanistan shows interest in CEPC too, but China didn't acknowledged it. CHINA knows it's not the time to include Afghanistan.

I am quite skeptic about Iranian role in CPEC. China definately will feel good about Iran but not sure how beneficial it will be for Gwader and Pakistan in general. With CPEC, we are hoping to see Gawader turning into a major port city in the region but with Iranian ports around the corner China might shift some of its investment there rather than developing the city, Gawader. Iran will use CPEC to develop Chahbar and will offer China to use that port on will as well so in this scenerio , Gawader shouldn't look like to be used as transit hub only. Pakistan should play her cards smartly while keeping everyone in the loop but should always remain central point of investment.

Sir jab ghee seedhe onglee say nikal raha ha to koa zaroorat tarhee onglee krnay ke...
when China will have a direct route via Pakistan then why it will make its transit complicated by adding another country into it, what China will gain from that?
In fact that route will cost them an additional paperwork, additional Kilometres, additional custom duty etc.
And Chahbar is not ready, it will take years to be ready any investment there will be dead for some time. So China will not divert any investment of CPEC twards Chahbar.
That's why Major transit will be through Pakistan and Gwader.
