China will launch an experimental recoverable #moon #orbiter before the end of 2014, said the State Administration of Science, Technology & Industry for National Defense.
The orbiter, one of the test models for #China’s #Chang’e-5, has already arrived at the Xichang Satellite Launch Center.
The more sophisticated Chang'e-5 mission that is currently being planned, includes unmanned sampling and returning, requires technological breakthroughs in moon surface takeoff, sampling encapsulation, rendezvous and docking in #lunar orbit, as well as high-speed #Earth reentry.
