Looks like Thailand is in trouble too. Thailand is pumping 150m3/s, but China has increased from 1000m3/s to 2190m3/s, so it should still reach Vietnam. I hope 6 Lancang-Mekong countries can set up an emergency meet to take care the problem. Best wishes to people of Vietnam.

yes, usually the case as we are tropical country. but since the climate begins to change: the rain season becomes shorter, extreme weather varying from cold to hot. the scientists say it is El Nino phenomenon. both the Red river and Mekong river have too little waters. to make things worse, China, Laos have a huge numbers of hydropower dams on the upper stream of the river, storing the waters. Thailand and Cambodia play their part too. result: too little waters reach Vietnam, as we are at the lower end.

that will not only affect Vietnam. as we are a major food exporter, for instance some 7 million tons of rice a year, other importing countries will face rising food prices. that´s for sure.

The best sulution for Viet-Han relationship is that the leader of two country could sit down and solve the dispute in SCS (Bien Dong in Vietnamese) base on rules of international law. So Paracel and Spratly is still under control of Vietnam. It does mean that Island is under domination of Confucism people. This is win-win solution for both. Presence of Viet in SCS is more safe for Han.

In Vietnamese language, there is many common old Tibetan language word we shared from old time when we both settled from Africa to Asia. Later on, in time of Han domination, there is Han-Viet words were bollowed. It is normally when we can easily translate our Name in to Chinese. It doeasn't means that we have chinese name.
