Johannesburg, South Africa (ADV) – China’s Sanya City in the tropical Island of Hainan is set to implement the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in various cities of Africa, a move that is expected to open opportunities for both parties and bring shared interest.

According to Daily News, the initiative involves over 24 African countries and 29 international organisations.

Countries like Tanzania, Egypt, Kenya, Burundi, Somalia, Mozambique, Mauritania, Madagascar, Mauritius, South Africa, Morocco, Guinea, Ethiopia, Comoros, Rwanda, South Sudan, Sudan, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Seychelles, Tunisia, Djibouti and Algeria have already expressed an interest in the initiative.

Sanya City’s Development and Reform Commission, General Economist, Zhao Yiwen, said among other things, the cooperation between the Africa Counties and China will also provide an opportunity for knowledge transfer among participants.

“There are a number of projects that have been invested and will continue to be constructed, the aim is to maintain the city’s status of being among the worlds’ international tourist destination given the nature of activities taking place here,” said Yiwen.

The cooperation between African Cities and Sanya is expected to empower participants with information on how to maintain and strengthen their status for present and future benefits.
