Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed has said that Pakistan will be laying a double train track from Peshawar to Karachi with China’s help.

Trains will run at a speed of at least 160km/h on this track, he said, adding that he signed a feasibility plan for this project 13 years ago.

An agreement has been signed between the two countries for the project.

Speaking to the media after the prime ministers of both countries signed the agreement, Rasheed said this is a big day for Pakistan’s railways. Change will be brought in the railway network across the country with China’s help, he said.

I wish there could be an electrified railway track network all over the country capable of supporting High Speed Trains with speeds upto 300 - 350 km/h.

But we don't have the budget for that....:hitwall:

We don't have electricity for that.

I wish China would bring electricity to Peshawar, we don't have electricity since 8 am this morning. Its 6 pm now

By the time research is completed the world will move on to hyperloop.

I don't think yar. Researching on domestic railway production isn't difficult with a joint venture including some international firm.

I hope they use the chinese standard of tracks and trains henceforth instead of old british, pakistani indian tracks.

Chinese tracks are the way of future and only then we can connect our train network with the chinese one in norther kashmir

This is the problem. If you don't complete it in your five-years tenure, then it's not going anywhere.

Just look how PTI tried it's utmost best to stop or sabotage every infrastructure project between 2013 - 2018, even referring to CPEC investment as loans instead of investment.

I did read an article somewhere where sheikh rashers says new tracks will be standard gauge.

I hope that is the case, since we are laying new tracks it’s a long term investment, so plan ahead now and go with the future which is standard gauge.

The "they stole our our wealth' British laid the original track over 100 years ago. Since then even after "they stole our wealth' left 70 years ago we have not laid 10 extra miles of track [indeed mileage has reduced] and Chinese are going to do it for us. Basically sans British/Chinese we would have no railways.

What does that tell us?
