China to boost strategic partnership with Pakistan: Vice President_English_Xinhua

BEIJING, July 16 (Xinhua) -- China will work with Pakistan to realize the consistent, sound and stable development of the strategic cooperative partnership, Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping said Thursday.

Xi hailed the friendship and cooperation between the two states since diplomatic ties were established in 1951.

"Despite all the changes on the international arena and in our domestic situations, the cooperation between China and Pakistan has remained unchanged and always moved forward," Xi told Ahmed Mukhtar, Defense Minister of Pakistan, who is on a five-day visit to China.

He said the China-Pakistan relations were a successful model of China's foreign policy and of the harmonious co-existence between countries with different social systems.

Mukhtar pledged to promote the friendship between the two armies and push forward cooperation between the two countries.

Excellent find Coolyo -- It is interesting that the Chinese Vice President takes the opportunity to highlight domestic changes and to highlight different "social systems" - that this was though necessary is interesting - my take on it would be that the substance of talks may have been "candid".

China will work with Pakistan to realize the consistent, sound and stable development of the strategic cooperative partnership,

So an assurance by the Chinese that relations with Pakistan are the way they have been in the recent past (since PPP govt) -- that the Chinese view these relations with "caution" (stable development), there are no strategic breakthroughs.

The quality of relations with our brother ally are not the same as they were under Musharraf.
