China threatens already fatigued USA

.
I think you are severely underestimating the US.
Don't be afraid of the unknown, its not a war, its competition. US might have the largest and most powerful military and technology but they are not cohesive. You can learn alot about a country from this virus, China United as One. Believe me, you will see more 'miracles' coming out soon. The more you contain China, the more united Chinese becomes. You must corrupt the Chinese through complacency. Remember a year ago 128 layer 3D Nand was just a rumor according to the west. There are alot of programs taht are near maturity.

You can thank Mao Zedong for that. When Silicon Valley was giving birth to a nascent semiconductor industry and Taiwan, Japan, S. Korea were quickly adapting to this new industry, Mao was sending China's top scientists to pig sties to shovel shit.
No top scientist was persecuted in Mao age. Those who were persecuted were writers, artists. China didn't have demand for semiconductors in Mao age because China was a closed market and its industry was at a low level.

As for the present awkward situation in the semiconductor industry, there are 3 reasons: 1, As I said, demand decides production. China didn't have big demand for semiconductors until resent decade. 2, When realized how important semiconductor industry is, the technical barriers have already been built. A mature and monopolistic ecosystem was already there. And semiconductor industry is the Mount Everest compared with other industries. It not only needs huge amount of money, also all the money could vaporise without any pay back. Because it's winer takes all industry. China was facing even worse environment because US bans China buying advanced equipment(lithography for example). 3, Chinese government made a wrong forecast on globalization. China thought relying on American products wouldn't be a problem.

I consider his stupidity far greater than his evil-ness in terms of his damage on China.

Not really. The semiconductor industry is where China is truly vulnerable. Where it really has no indigenous technological capability in many areas. This will be a massive blow to China's technological advancement.

You are underestimating the capability for recklessness for a desperate man.

You have got to be kidding me. If Taiwan or South Korea were hit with 1/10 the barriers China was hit with they would've collapsed long ago (not Japan, because Japan was never poor. They started industrializing at the same time as Germany).

just for a hint: Japan hit South Korea with sanctions on electronics grade chemicals last year. South Korea could not replace them domestically.

Who did they turn to?

The semiconductor industry is vast and supply chains depend on mechanical and chemical industries which have experience dating back to the industrial revolution.

To put it simply, China has gone much further near the leading edge in semiconductor than South Korea or Taiwan have in say, aerospace.

Have you wondered why TSMC has to obey the US export law?

When push comes to shove, all of these countries will side with the US. China's most valuable ally is really Russia because of its strength and size and its shared enmity towards American dominance. However, the US has many wealthy, powerful and technologically advanced allies. China is quite isolated in that regards.

North Korea is a basket case and they are nowhere as powerful as they are made out to be.
Russia is our involuntary meat shield. The only way US can launch a direct offensive on us from their mainland is by overflying/going over Russia.

Now, can one imagine Trump calling Putin: "Hey man, my nukes, and bombers are about to overfly your territory." Unless Trump truly is Russian spy, and we are playing an unbelievable farce, this is not happening.

Submarines, and strike bombers is our focus, with strike from US mainland not being forgotten, but not taken as the sole threat.

And semiconductor industry is the Mount Everest compared with other industries.
No, not really. If people in the Big Fund, NRDC, and Qinghua Holding didn't play fool for the last 20 years, we wouldn't have been there.

We had a competitive fabricator, SEG, back in nineties. Since then, the focus of state support has long shifted from "dirty, ugly, low grade" manufacturing work. We build hotels, malls, banks, luxury real estate, while our true advantage went nowhere.

It's a big surprise for most foreigners when I tell them that manufacturing in Shenzhen has saw a near threefold decline in the past decade. When they ask "where it all went?" I say just look around.

You know it's really telling that the country where the virus originated has got it in under control and is back to functioning while US is still reeling under it and has no plans to control it.

chill, money talks. The US is fcked big time, their economy is in shits, they need us to buy em beans. The signs are there, just imagine this, Trump is pissed as fck, we technically killed 90k Americans without firing a single bullet, whacked their economy back to 2008 levels, created the worst unemployment since the depression around 30 to 40 mil unemployed. And yet he is still

1) Trading with China?
2) Keeping the phase 1 trade deal
3) Only containing Huawei?
4) Insist on not defaulting?

Come on man, if I were him I would totally ban All trade with China and default the shit out of China. I would be one step from nuking China. If you look at all the signs, US clearly wants to continue trading while wanting to reduce Chinese tech dominance. What will happen? Huawei will weaken of course, but technologically? They would still invest in 6G and BEYOND. China will have 10-15 % unemployment, reduced MNC capacities for diversification reasons but still a dominant manufacturer, but you will see the rise of local champions due to this tech embargo, local companies will fill the niche and grow. US will not decouple they can't afford too. If they decouple a new pole will emerge. The hundreds of billions invested will go to waste.

Remember what they said about the trade war in 2018? ITS BEEN 2 YEARS AND ONE EPIDEMIC. We are still alive and thriving, our economy is restarting so well, I am here, I see the real thing. China is confident that we haven't even reduced interest rates or print trillions, US is printing trillions and reducing rates to zero, that itself shows how friggin desperate they are. Our banks are state owned, we can postpone loan repayment with no interest if someone get unemployed, workers can bunker down in their village for years almost free of cost. CAN US DO THE SAME? Our consumers are majority earn, save and spend type, not borrow to spend type. One month if inactivity nearly crippled the US food stamp system. China was under lockdown for almost 3 months, you see ppl starving!? Due to histourical reasons, the typical Chinese save for rainy days, the only big debt is mortgage which the goverment can easily freeze in times of crisis.

Trump unleashed COVID on his own people to blame China. How evil can a man get? Look no further.

the trolls in the media and on the internet are getting the USA public hating Fauci and Gates. This is to keep the fools occupied and not demanding the removal of trump, while they are gonna get the Aussies or some group to do a Banana Republic investigation of China to blame the Chinese.

This was pre-planned.
