BEIJING, Aug. 14 -- According to the annual plan and consensus reached between China and Thailand, the China-Thailand "Commando 2023" joint army training will be held in Thailand from mid-August to early September, said Senior Colonel Wu Qian, spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense on Monday.

"The 'Commando' series of joint army training focuses on conducting joint anti-terrorism operations, and aims to strengthen counter-terrorism cooperation between the Chinese and Thai armies, promote the development of mil-to-mil relations, and play a constructive role in maintaining regional peace and stability," spokesperson Wu said.

PHITSANULOK, Thailand, Aug. 17 -- The Chinese troops to participate in China-Thailand "Commando 2023" joint army training, which is composed of service members assigned to a brigade of the PLA 74th Group Army, arrived at a joint training area in Phitsanulok of Thailand on August 16 to make preparations for the upcoming joint training exercise.

The joint training will take place in Thailand from mid-August to early September. With joint counter-terrorism operations as the subject, the training aims to enhance counter-terrorism cooperation between the Chinese and Thai armies, promote the development of mil-to-mil relationship, and play a constructive role in maintaining peace and stability in the region.

"The joint training is an important measure for both sides to explore joint counter-terrorism operations and exchange combat and training experience. It holds great significance for enhancing both armies' capabilities to carry out special operations tasks, and strengthening practical cooperation in the field of training," said Zheng Gang, commander of the Chinese participating troops.

BEIJING, Aug. 31 -- Based on the annual plan for international military cooperation, China and Thailand will hold "Blue Strike-2023" joint naval training in the Gulf of Thailand and Sattahip in early September, said Senior Colonel Wu Qian, spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense, at a regular press conference on Thursday.

According to the spokesperson, the training will cover subjects including sniping tactics, jungle survival, maritime search and rescue, and cross-deck helicopter landing. It is designed to improve the training level and coordination ability of participating troops, enhance practical cooperation between the two navies, and strengthen their capabilities of jointly addressing regional security threats.
 

China-Thailand "Blue Strike 2023" joint naval training kicks off​

SATTAHIP, Thailand, Sep.4 -- More than 400 officers and soldiers from China and Thailand participated in the opening ceremony of the "Blue Strike 2023" joint naval training at the Sattahip Naval Base in Thailand on September 3, 2023.

The joint training aims to promote mutual learning and exchange of operational training experience between the two sides, enhance their capabilities to jointly address regional security threats, and deepen military cooperation and exchanges. Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Han Zhiqiang and Admiral Chatchai Sriworakhan, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy, attended the opening ceremony.

During the joint training, the Marine Corps from both sides will conduct training exercises including urban warfare, light weapons shooting, sniping tactics, armored tactics, chemical defense, battlefield first aid, wilderness survival, humanitarian assistance, and disaster relief. The naval units will engage in joint training exercises such as replenishment-at-sea, maneuvering drills, helicopter deck-landing, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, aerial photography, joint anti-submarine operations, and light signal communication.

The "Blue Strik" joint navel training between China and Thailand is a significant step to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and their armed forces. "Blue Strike 2023" marks the 5th joint training of this series since the inception in 2010.

On September 2, the day before the opening ceremony, the Chinese task force's ships participating in the "Blue Strike 2023" joint naval training held an open ship activity. More than 400 personnel visited the ships, deepening their understanding of China’'s naval construction and development.
