The original source for all this "news" from Xinjiang is "Radio Free Asia", an American propaganda source set up by their own US Congress in 1994.

And none of their stories can be "confirmed".

It doesn't even make sense, how could forcing a shopkeeper to sell alcohol achieve anything?

But no doubt many people will believe it, no matter how illogical it sounds. Just because it was spoken by Americans.
I totally agree..cuz those muslims who doesnt wanna sell simply can find other work in a country like china who's economy is world best...
Why dont they highlights those muslims who sell alcohol and pork some of them openly use em. How about muslim countries where they openly sell both of it. its a propagenda clearly of west to create missunderstanding.

When its clearly matter of choice of indivisual.

There is no way we can specifically ascertain if there is truth to this story. However the more important question is this. Are the Uighur Muslim's being pushed by Chinese state that involves the Uighurs compromising there religion or culture? Yes, absolutely is my answer.

Also the broader question. London, New York, Dublin, Toronto are far better for Muslim's to practice their faith then Beijiang or Kashgar. Everybody know's this and those who refuse to accept would also refuse to accept that night follows day.

The reality is China is authoritarian quasi-communist state ran by CPC. Most Chinese now are athiest and look at religion as anachronism in the modern world. To the Chinese their loyalty lies with the Chinese state. It is interesting that the Mosque has the Chinese flag inside as that is giving a message. Chinese state is supreme.

The Chinese might just put up with religion but when any religion becomes a vehicle for secessionist tendancies you can expect the wrath of the Chinese state. This is not peculaiar to China. Any strong state ( Chinsa, Turkey etc ) will react with iron fist. Only in weak ( Pakistan ) will challange of the state be met with miserable appeasment. Do not expect the Chinese muck up their country like we did in Pakistan. China is going to be numero uno and people least of all bunch of Muslims are going to come in their way.

China has 1,300 million people. When those 1,300 millin people get up the morning and they all think alike, talk alike, act alike, feel alike, walk alike, aspire alike, work alike we will see the one huge mass of humanity working togather and like a fine tuned machine with all the thousands of parts working in perfect unision become the most productive nation is history. Hyperpower China will have arrived.

Chinese don't all think alike, talk alike, feel alike, walk alike, aspire alike, work alike. That is a racist western notion that Chinese are not individuals. It is as dangerous as the notion that only Germans were individuals to justify the Holocaust.

China is actually one of the most tolerant countries in the world. Don't try to overthrow the government, don't try to sabotage public order, and no one cares what you do. There's "行为艺术“ in Chinese cities all the time, translated as "action art" where students dress up and act in the street. Truly unique people, and no one bothers them, because Chinese society is very tolerant. Homosexuals? Nobody is beating them up. Nobody is outlawing them. etc.

Soldiers are not ordinary people. In every country, soldiers MUST conform.

China has a long history of unique thinkers who were not afraid to literally put their neck on the line for their ideas, and a long history of revolt against tyrants ranging from peasant revolts at the end of Han and Tang, to the revolts against the Mongols that established the Ming, to the revolts that started the ROC and PRC.

There is also a long history of rebels being crushed if they don't succeed.

For truly conformist societies - see Japan. There's a reason that Japan never had major revolts, and its not because of enlightened government.

Excuse my language. I did not mean that they don't have personal differances or outlook or tastes. There is the personal and there is the public. I meant that Chinese are more apt to be in agreement with the direction of the Chinese state. I give you one example. If China was Pakistan Sinkiang Ughur would be pulling in one direction. Hunan in another direction, Shandong in another direction, Shanxi in another direction, Fujian in another direction. Your central government would struggle to contain contadictory demands by everybody.

China built the Three Gorges Dam. In Pakistan everybody would argue for 100 years before any agreement could be made. If the government made a decision the rest would go against and stop the project. In fact can you imagine you switch on TV and the news is discussing "Why China exists?" or "What is Chinese ideology" so all your governments are weak because nothing is agreed.

Can you imagine your in charge of a class of students and they can't agree on what food to order. Your the teacher but all they want differant things but you can't have tailor made meal for each student but your students refuse to arrive at a consensus.

In fact our leaders spend 90% of their energy to make sure they stay in power because so fracterious is our polity. That is what I meant.

It is the principle of democratic centralism. Before a decision has been made - you can argue all you want and debate all you want. But once the decision has been set - no more arguing. The time for that is over, and now is the time to execute the plan. When the dam was proposed, there was indeed opposition and other studies done that showed the costs. But after weighing the costs and benefits, the plan was approved - and then, no more opposition is allowed.

I know what democratic centralism means. However what if at the debate level all the parties could not arrive at a consensus. In fact Shandong felt it was going to loose it started it point blank threaten that it would blow up any attempt to build the dam. We have had Kalabagh Dam that is to us as critical as Three Gorges but 50 years after initial studies have passed. debate after debate but agreement cannot be reached.

Then it doesn't move forward. That's how China is too alot of the time. There was talk about total transparency for all officials - still no consensus since 1990's. There was talk about healthcare reform since 1980's, still nothing moves. 1 child policy debates - moves at a glacial pace.

Xinjiang is not a Sharia enforced area.

the Han Chinese can simply boycott these businesses, or they can run their own businesses that sell cigarettes and alcohol, and all the while importing more Han into the region.

I was under the impression they were already doing that, maybe this is a change in tactics.

result: Pakistan won 5 more free helicopter:)

Kardes not all Pakistanis are blinded by their love for China.

dimwits, halfwits and gullibles````lol, why dont they go to China to see how those Muslims are 'suffering' ```

the western propaganda did a wonderful job to excite these brainless nutcases :)

Let's assume that some website with a name like "all-fake-stories.com" reports that India has banned ramadan/ramzan fasting, banned Muslims from keeping beard, prohibited Muslim women from wearing hijab, prohibited Muslim children from reading Quran, forced Muslim shop-owners to sell alcohol and cigarette during ramadan, and forcing Muslim Ulemas & Maulavis to dance publicly in the tune of "Little apple" (or lungi dance) song.....I guess you, or at least many Pakistanis would have believed it wholeheartedly without giving any thought! :)

Some more links for you below.....
I wouldn't. That sounds quite stupid, India has a huge population of Muslims, evoking them will create more problems. Trust me i wouldn't just believe it. Have a good day.

But many would, they won't be so cautious to look at the source or anything else!

However, I have already given you many other links on this Chinese topic. :)

So no love for fellow muslims? Except shedding crocodike tears for Indian muslims.

Atleast you are honest. I will give you that.

You helped afghanistan and arab for your own national (not Islamic) interests and it backfired. So cry me river.
