Turks are the majority in Turkey by a huge amount. Only the Kurds are creating the problem since they want to break away because the Allies of Ww1 promised a kurdish state to kurds if they start rebelling and backstabbing the Ottoman empire.

Ataturk basically kicked kurdish aspirations of independance and destroyed their plans of a independant state promised to them by the treaty of sevres.

Honestly Turkey is in a much better time today than it was in the late Ottoman Period especially before and after ww1 with the various ethnic conflicts.

Not much separatism in Turkey like it was in the past. Kurds are just a relic of this legacy with the aftermath of ww1. By the way, Western Allies also promised the Kurds not just parts of Turkey but also Iraq and even Iran which clashed with the Arabs and Iranians at the same time.

These are nothing more than a legacy of ww1 which Turkey is still living with unfortunately thanks to the British and the French. British promised everybody a country and a strip of land to everybody who fought against the Ottoman Empire this naturally clashed with the peoples they promised it to.

This is why you dont promise everybody something. I think the worse has been left behind really.
