The interesting is Russia,china,vietnam have same idiology..and Rusia will play a strategic role if conflict between China and Vietnam erupted in SCS
In couple decade China use many Russia warstuff specially PLAaf..you guys have many variant sukhoi and mig..
For vietnam i heard some story in PDF that Rusia help a lot in vietnam war..send many of rifle,sam,and advisor..but its happen in cold war..
I think Rusia will see the chance who can win the conflict, and where is US position first before choose for which side they will be..

Selling weapons to a client state is different from a strategic ally. Russia needs us as much as we need them to balance US. India is a secondary actor looking for some benefits, they will largely stay neutral. Vietnam is aggressive but weak, our biggest threat is US unilateralism.

The best strategy is to maintain status quo while quietly strengthening what we already have in SCS. We need our CBGs to be ready to challenge US, at least 5-6 CBGs to contain US threat.
