Democracy = Prosperity? There are over 190 countries in the world, more than 90% are considered as democratic. Note the wide application of such a system, while also citing severe contrast in economic development between various countries, apparently there is no pattern relating democracy to prosperity of nations. Looking at the other group, a smaller sample size, those classified as undemocratic, severe contrast in economic development is also observed.

Prosperity and democracy can co-exist, however neither one is the consequence of the other.
At least in East Asia, all major industrialisation happened when a country was not democratic.
Basically, those fake democracy is actually implementing demoncracy.

As democracy has no relation to do with prosperity, like in many countries observed, let's leave it out of the equation and to look into if there's any other factors that will drive economic advancement.

None of the the track records, nor do any the current facts support an optimistic growth in India. India is an agrarian dominant and low-income economy. Lack in natural resources, infrastructure, industrialization and fiscal reserves make it dependent on foreign investments, if there are any (only Japan/SK can and will consider). Instead of being a driver, the unfavorable demographics (e.g. poverty, illiteracy, malnourishment, childhood stunting) is a heavy burden or impediment to the economy. However with abundant cheap services labour, India may have a significant piece of international services sector e.g. BPO, and drives grow.

From China's POV, the two are unrelated economies with insignificant bilateral interaction, will pursue separate ways.

Japan industrialization happened in Meiji restoration, while Japan was modernizing on politics.(however I am not against your opinion, in contrast, I hope with this example your perspective could be more concrete) But at that time Japan assented their first constitution( JP imperial constitution), this aptly casts light on the democracy is just a form like you said it's fake.
