China says Japan's 'hype' on air defence zone spreads tension

2 February 2014, 06:36

China does not feel threatened by countries in Southeast Asia and is optimistic about the situation in the disputed South China Sea, the Foreign Ministry said, warning Japan not to 'spread rumors' it plans a new air defense identification zone.

China alarmed Japan, South Korea and the United States last year when it announced an air defense identification zone for the East China Sea, covering a group of uninhabited islands at the center of a bitter ownership spat between China and Japan.

Last week, Japanese newspaper the Asahi Shimbun said China was considering setting up a similar zone - where foreign aircraft are supposed to report their movements to China - in the South China Sea, prompting the US State Department to warn against such a move.

In a statement released late on Saturday, China's Foreign Ministry implied there was no need for such a zone in the South China Sea, where China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, the Philippines and Taiwan all have competing claims.

'Generally speaking, China does not feel there is an air security threat from ASEAN countries,' the ministry said, referring to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

'China feels optimistic about relations with countries surrounding the South China Sea and the general situation in the South China Sea,' the ministry said, adding it believed prospects for ties with ASEAN were 'bright'.

While the ministry said China had a right to set up air defense identification zones which nobody should criticize, it criticized Japan for attempting to distract attention from Japan's own military plans.

'Right wing forces in Japan have again been hyping up so-called plans that China will shortly set up an air defense identification zone in the South China Sea, which is purely to try and distract international attention, to cover up their conspiracy to ... expand their military,' the ministry said.

'We warn these forces not to delude people with rumors for their own selfish interests and play up tensions, and hope the relevant party talks and acts cautiously,' it added.

Ties have been strained by a recent visit by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to a controversial shrine for war dead, China's East China Sea air defense zone and the long-running dispute over a string of islets both countries claim, known as the Diaoyu in Chinese and the Senkaku in Japanese.

China, which is swiftly ramping up military spending, has regularly dispatched patrols to the East China Sea since it established the defense zone.

China has repeatedly denied Japanese accusations of being a threat to peace, saying it is Japan which is the threat, warning that Tokyo is trying to rearm and has failed to learn the lessons from its brutal behavior during World War Two.

It seems Almighty Tengri has gone on vacation.

The Krygyz killed Uzbeks in 1989, they did it in 2010, and constant clashes and disputes occur, perhaps their itchy fingers are waiting to have another go.

In 1989, Uzbeks conducted a series of massacres against Meskhetian Turks. The reason the Meskhetians were in Uzbekistan was because of Stalin's mass deporation and killings of the Meskhetians to central asia, and the Uzbeks did not welcome their Turkic "brothers", but instead when the Soviet Union was collapsing, sought to kill them. Family fights can happen. It is nothing compared to what you Chinis did to each other. 30 million dead Chinis under Maoist China. And if that is not bad enough, Mao is being remembered as a hero in China. Alzheimer to say the least..

Like you praising the Mongols who smashed and devastated the Seljuk Turks, permanently sending them into decline (at the benefit to the Byzantines and Armenians, the Mongols recruited Armenians into their army for their campaigns in the middle east, go look up "Mongol Amenia" and "Byzantine Mongol Alliance), and who also attacked and massacred hundreds of thousands of the Cuman and Kipchak Turks and the Turkic Khwarazmians, or Timur, who massacred and attacked millions, including Ottomans, the Tughlaqs, the Golden Horde, the Chagatai Khanate and many other Turkic central asians? Do you know the record massacres Genghis Khan inflicted upon the Khwarazmians?

No, I'm not the one suffering from Alzheimers when you praise Mongols or Timur as Turkic heros (and Mongols are not even Turkic LOL) Timur achieved a record in doing more damage to other Turkic states than anyone else. Timur sent the Golden Horde into terminal decline.

Almost all 30 million dead were starvation victims, because of agricultural failures, China simply has more population (1 billion) to loose in a famine than anyone else, if a famine occured in Bhutan, only around 700,000 people will die since Bhutan only has that amoint of people. While we both know who is the greatest expert at brutally massacring and hacking each other to death. Timur achieved a record in his devastation on other Turkic Empires.

Do you think that is really comparable to what Mao did? Mongols didn't massacre Turks in the millions, he only wanted control. On the other hand, Mao massacred Chinese like they were farm stock and no it wasn't natural deaths or only femine. He just didn't care about Chinese lifes. Just like Japan didn't care about Chinese life and cut through China like a hot knife through butter.

In the other thread you were crying about this. At least others accept their loss and move on. China is begging for apology what happened last century like a little ...

Even the ruthless Mongol you down talk all the time didn;t massacre his own people because he loved his own people. Chinese take each other's life with a whoop like it is no big deal.

Google "Mao Genocide", doesn't look like famine to me. Looks like he whooped Chinese because he didn't care about you.

It isn't Chinese who are going on Turkish related threads and trolling, its you constantly butting into Chinese related threads and whining, and we all know why. Crying like a dog because of the fact that Turkic peoples are ruled by non Turkic peoples, while Turkey rules over tens of millions of Kurds, and crying about nonexistent atrocities. Even crying about "genocide" of Uighurs, which isn't happening. We aren't the ones crying. We don't go onto your threads, or cry about nonexistent genocides.

More blatant lies, I have never talked about Japan giving an apology to China or about Japanese atrocities in China. Unless all the Moro people magically transformed into Chinese. Moros are a brave people unlike you.

Moro resistance to Japanese occupation and atrocities in World War 2

It's called "Great Chinese Famine", and most of the deaths were all starvation related.

Genghis Khan massacred all males of the Mongol Tatar (confederation) tribe who were taller than the axle of a cart. The Khalkha Mongols helped the Qing genocide nearly all the Dzungar Mongol population.

And Mongols were experts at slaughtering their own people for the sake of Russia.

Most of the Chinese army occupying Mongolia in 1919 was made out of Chakhar Mongols, who brutally slaughtered Khalkha Mongols.

Stalin genocided Turkic peoples in World War 2, like Crimean Tatars, Meskhetian Turks, Kazakhs, shooting and butchering hundreds of thousands of them during forced collectivization and deportation, and to this day all of them haven't gotten over what happened over sixty years ago, still demanding apologies even though Stalin is long dead. And you were also begging for an apology on the circassian genocide thread over what happened TWO centuries ago.

Like a hot knife through butter. Still crying over it, I see. And Stalin indeed never harmed his own people. All of these lives were worthless to him.

Ok, add those numbers up and let's compare.

It is nothing compared to how many Chinese where whooped by their own government.

Like I said earlier. I don't focus on the past. I focus on the future. Japan knows best. Perhaps if you are lucky, you can sacrifise yourself for Japan.
