I know Malaysia might seek training form better navies like America or Japan,but we might be invited for Joint exercises.

Who knows maybe also Pakistan might train them

If China builds up its Navy, India will do the same. Seeing India buildup its Navy, Pakistan like always will be worried. Pakistan is discussing possible deals with Germany and France to get some subs. So Pakistan is feeling the heat too. Directly or indirectly. This is also seen in the recent news about a chines firm getting a contract to build a few sea based infrastructure.

India did more than that. India has an aircraft carrier and China has none. So China should quickly catch up to India and get an aircraft carrier.

Chinese submarines and destroyers didn't passed through Japanese waters in April, it merely sailed through international waters between two Japanese islands on their way to an exercises.

So Newsweek thinks Chinese navy sailing on international waters is brazen belligerence? I thought the the cornerstone of U.S maritime policy is about 'freedom of movement'. Apparently Newsweek believes only U.S and its allies has the right to use international waters.

It's also rather telling the only evidence of Chinese naval aggression Newsweek came up with is Chinese navy passing through international waters.

And each time Chinese ship passes through the Indian Ocean, Indian media hypes the China threat...labeling it as if China is trespassing in Indian Lake.

No nuclear nation will ever attack another nuclear nation directly. There is too much to lose.

So I don't think there is much to worry about.

That being said... it's always a good thing to improve the strength of your armed forces. Not for the purposes of waging war, but to secure shipping lanes, boost the domestic economy, and to ensure national safety and national pride.

Then Indian ship should also not enter the South China Sea. Indian ships should also be confined(operate) in the Indian Ocean only. If any Indian ships are found in the South China Sea then China should label it as an invasion.

I dont Know If You call world's maritime controlling agency as cows, but we certainly dont call them that way.....Indian naval ships have escorted about 700 merchant ships, including 600 foreign-flagged vessels from over 45 countries, during anti-piracy patrols in the Gulf of Aden since October 2008. And thus was ranked and Awarded

I think the Indian navy was ranked as best because of their aggresive nature of anti-piracy like firing and sinking of pirate boats.

China actually escorted more ships through their convoy action. They have completed escorting 225 convoy, with no less than 10 ships per convoy, easily more than 2000 ships already.

However, Chinese policy is not agrresive, they do not fire to kill, rather the aim is to escort ships safely through the region.

A military buildup in SE Asia is in the interest of American, European and Russian defence industries, as none of the ASEAN members can produce weapons indigenously. They'd have to procure massive numbers of miltary hardware and foreign expertise from non-China military powers which in turn increases their dependense on these powers... with their enormous trade surplus and forex.
