I think this machine is built for the Daqin railway or other route to transport coal from western China to the east, as suggested by its logo 'CE' or China Energy group. And sure the tech can be used for the military. A powerful engine is always more efficient. And this engine certainly mark a huge leap forward and breakthrough in heavy-haul technologies and break the world record for train engines.

I think it is twin section locomotive . Obviously it is not simple addition but an integrated system with division of functionality between the two sections . Really powerful .
