Sri Lankan troops were to withdraw to their barracks in the north, the Tamil rebels were to disarm.[3] India agreed to end support for the Tamil separatist movement and recognise the unity of Sri Lanka.[4] The Indo-Sri Lanka Accord also underligned the commitment of Indian military assistance on which the Indian Peace Keeping Force came to be inducted into Sri Lanka.


It was a very good deal. IPKF was send to impose this, but LTTE played party poopers and IPKF was drawn into a war that they did not want. Again even after IPKF left, LTTE was in a position of strength. They ran a de facto country, but again their arrogance costed them everything. Now we are back to square one demanding (mainly the devolution of powers to Tamil territories) what SL was ready to give as per the accord 20+years ago and now it seems SL is no mood to do so.
