China & Pakistan Supports Sri Lanka at UNHRC

it was a government-to-government business transaction between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.....has nothing to do with genocide. Pakistan is not an enemy of Sri Lankan tamil people, that is a tall accusation to make; please clarify yourself first
instead of brokering peace to end a conflict, your, mine, and 9 other governments gave weapons and logistic and training to kill an entire ethnic group. Just don't talk diplomacy, say it from your heart, is it OK to kill an entire population because they resist your government, if that is OK for you, then INDIA should be killing every Kashmiri in the vally to make INDIA grow(I do not wish for that).
All Human Lifes are important, if there is a dispute, its better to resolve it over a table rather than kill an entire community to attain NATIONAL growth.

neither Gandi nor Jinnah Sahib nor the heros from either side threw grenades from propeller airplanes; they didnt deploy suicide bombers to attack soft targets!

it was a war against LTTE, not against Tamil people as whole - as far as I know.

I'm happy to see the end to civil war in Sri Lanka and that there is peace now

No Indian with a sane mind here will support LTTE, but the problem is that fight against LTTE became the fight against Tamil people towards the end with Civilains indiscriminately targeted..its this we oppose and demand justice.

Also Jinnah & Gandhi were not the only one fighting for independence. They were also the likes of Bhagat Singh, Subash Chandra Bose etc.

You think Tamil people will look at it like that really? with this action

If the war was just to wipe out LTTE why were they killing Hindu Tamil Brahman priests and destroying temples and raping women and cutting of their tits? :disagree:

are you saying that Bhagat Sing, Subash Chandra Boss, a number of HINDU/MUSLIMS who fought a bloody rebelion against British Empire are not heros who fought for the freedom of the sub continent(PAKISTAN / INDIA)

i have no information about these things; obviously as a sane human i would be against any such things like targetting temples or ethnic/religious groups

as far as i know, this was simply a counter-insurgency war -- some excesses were committed but it was LTTE side which never had regard for civilian life. I was in diapers when they were still attacking regular civilians and police even in main cities.

LTTE are no saints even many Tamils are sick of them but what the Sri lankan army did was mass murder nothing else to describe it.

man youre making excuses....were all Tamils in Sri Lanka ''wiped out''

and were they all pro LTTE? these are important questions. Were all Sikhs pro-Khalistan? No, it appears not. That's why that movement and its militancy also hardly exist

it was LTTE which was first to use suicide bomb attacks.....i believe they perfected this technique

suicide bomb attacks especially in crowded cities cause maximum carnage and casualties.....believe me, we as Pakistanis know this for a fact since we experienced (and still experience) it time to time

Dude there is an unwritten rule that in a conflict b/n Govt & rebels, Govt should occupy the moral highground. If we have behaved like SL Govt we would have eliminated the Maoists in weeks by carpet bombing the jungles with no concern for the lives of Tribals living there.

Please read more about LTTE before throwing a lot of your own comments.
After 9/11, USA regarded that LTTE was a organiztion that fights for a genuine cause and is not a terror out fit but a freedom fighting organization, It was INDIA that throwed the pressure on USA's shoulder to include it in the 23 terror outfit list.
This was done at the behest of Indian National Cognress (especially SONIA bi*ch).

I think this might show who are supporting Sri Lanka-

24 countries vote in support of the Geneva resolution, 15 countries oppose and 8 countries remain absent.

In the voting for the resolution on Sri Lanka at the United Nations Human Rights Council session in Geneva, 24 countries have voted supporting the resolution and 15 countries have voted against. Eight countries have abstained.

The United States, Austria, Belgium, Benin, Cameroon, Chili, Costa Rica, Chess Republic, Guatemala, Hungaria, India, Italy, Libya, Mauritius, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Peru, Poland, Moldova, Romania, Spain, Switzerland and Uruguay voted in favour of the American resolution on Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh, China, Congo, Cuba, Ecuador, Indonesia, Kuwait, Maldives, Mauritania, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and Uganda voted against the resolution.

Angola, Botswana, Burkina Paso, Djibouti, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia and Senegal remained absent.

Addressing the UNHRC session today Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe said that the proposal against Sri Lanka has been brought at an improper time. The government is implementing a huge development programme. The Minister pointed out that bringing a proposal against the government is creating a wrong precedent and it can create unfavourable pressure on many countries. He has pointed out that in order to carryout the reforms properly Sri Lanka needs time and space. He has said that exerting unwanted pressure is a hindrance to the reforms work.

The Acting Minister of Mass Media and Information Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena has thanked all countries that voted in support of Sri Lanka at the UNHRC session in respect of the resolution on Sri Lanka. The Acting Minister told the SLBC that Sri Lanka’s stance on countries that voted against Sri Lanka will remain without any change. The countries which abstained have done so on the principal stand taken by them. The Minister said that the stance of the government on the resolution submitted by America remains unchanged and the development programmes of the government will be carried out uninterruptedly.

The Parliamentarian Thilanga Sumathipala told the Parliament today that Sri Lanka has not become humiliated in front of the international community. He said that this fact has been proved by Sri Lanka getting 15 votes in its support while America got only 24 votes after a massive operation launched by the them.

The Senior Lecturer of the Political Education Faculty of the Sri Jayawardenapura University Anuruddha Pradeep said that America exerted much pressure internationally to get majority votes in favour of its resolution on Sri Lanka at the UNHRC session. He said that America was able to influence the country’s that receive assistance from it. He further said that to face the future challenges arising from this resolution the government as well as the opposition and the people of this country should work together in unity. The lecturer also said that the task of the opposition is not a minor one and it is important that it should work incorporation with the government.

The Island News Editor Shamindra Ferdinandez told the SLBC that many SAARC and Asian countries voted in support of Sri Lanka at the UNHRC sessions. He said although America got the resolution approved by exerting pressure on its friendly nations majority of the Tamil people are with the government. He said that only a minority is acting against Sri Lanka remaining in the LTTE opinions. He further said that this resolution cannot make much pressure on Sri Lanka. Mr. Ferdinandez said that the reason for this is majority of Tamil people are with the government against the LTTE terrorism.
