What's new

China Once Looked Tough on Trade. Now Its Options Are Dwindling.

Obviously u have not taken any economics class. The riple effect of losing 400 billion of trade surplus means that your economy will lose 2 trillions if we take the multiplier effect of spending 80% and saving 20% for 1 dollar of trade surplus china earns. Welcome to the reality of losing 2 trilion of your economy
it's 6 trillions, not 2 trillions. i just pulled that number from my butt.

.
What I am proposing is what the industry in the States wanted in the 70s and 80s and 90s, guaranteed staying in the States, and no exporting of industry to other countries.

The economic war/attack on China is the desire to gut China of its industrial sector and make it an import economy because China is too independent minded.

Nationalizing amerikan businesses would retain those businesses. If these tariffs stay for decades, expect a decades long drain from China, which is the goal. Act now and save Chinese strong growth.

China be the 500 billion in export, don't let these foreign run companies go, nationalize them.

.
Now we are just waiting for the PDF economic 'sages' to say some versions of 'All China have to do is....' to collapse the US.

Game over.

I don't think so. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...on-u-s-surplus-that-trump-s-not-talking-about

But you better worry about the multiplier effect of Chinese not hiring any more Viet hookers.

Amerika will always out steal, out rape, out murder, out genocide anyone. There is not any comparisons in the world stage.

China is the target in this economic war, if you go tit for tat, their tat will always be to obliterate you and make sure you have no chance of recovery. The Washington criminals are evil personified.

If Chinese get involved, expect massive warfare economically. The way respond if businesses start leaving China in large numbers is to nationalize the Amerikan ones who started the war on China.

The neo-nazis have no mercy, show no mercy, ask the Iranians, Palestinians, Turks, Syrians, Iraqis, Sudanese, Libyans, Afghanis.

.
China's next move should be in the non-tariff area. For starter, put a big tax on the profits of American companies operating in China especially the F&B businesses (McDonald's, Starbucks, KFC, etc.). These corporations have nowhere to go since their customers are Chinese themselves. I'm sure this will rake in billions for the Chinese govt. It will also encourage the growth of home-growth F&B companies. Safe and effective strategy.

The US president’s move to impose 10 per cent tariffs on US$200 billion of Chinese goods was seen as killing any chance of new talks taking place

US President Donald Trump is poised to levy punitive tariffs on all Chinese imports, following China’s announcement on Tuesday that Beijing will respond to Washington’s latest escalation of the trade war by imposing duties on US$60 billion of US imports.

Trump took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to say that any further action by China targeting US farmers and industrial workers would result in “great and fast economic retaliation” from the US.

The president had warned in a statement on Monday evening that such action would take the form of tariffs on the remaining US$267 billion of Chinese imports, further expanding the already unprecedented scope of the trade war.

Repeating that threat in the Oval Office on Tuesday afternoon, Trump said: “We don’t want to do it, but we probably – we'll have no choice.”

Trump says he's 'ready' to put tariffs on all $505 billion of Chinese goods imported to the US
  • President Donald Trump has indicated he is willing to put tariffs on all $505 billion of Chinese goods the U.S. imports.
  • The rhetoric ramps up the U.S.-China trade war another step, though each country has issued just $34 billion in tariffs so far.

Trump weighs in on the trade war with China 6:04 AM ET Fri, 20 July 2018 | 04:02

President Donald Trump has indicated that he is willing to slap tariffs on every Chinese good imported to the U.S. should the need arise.

"I'm ready to go to 500," the president told CNBC's Joe Kernen in a "Squawk Box" interview aired Friday.

The reference is to the dollar amount of Chinese imports the U.S. accepted in 2017 — $505.5 billion to be exact, compared with the $129.9 billion the U.S. exported to China, according to Census Bureau data.

Thus far in the burgeoning trade war, the U.S. has slapped tariffs on just $34 billion of Chinese products, which China met with retaliatory duties.

By sheer dollar volume, the Chinese won't be able to come close to the U.S. in a tit-for-tat battle. Trump's comments point to a willingness to push the envelope as far as the U.S. needs to get Chinese tariff concessions, along with a pledge to stop allegedly stealing American technology.

"I'm not doing this for politics, I'm doing this to do the right thing for our country," Trump said. "We have been ripped off by China for a long time."

Trump said the U.S. is "being taken advantage of" on a number of fronts, including trade and monetary policy. Yet he said he has not pushed the tariffs out of any ill will toward China.

"I don't want them to be scared. I want them to do well," he said. "I really like President Xi a lot, but it was very unfair."

Trump also said he was told by unspecified Chinese officials that "nobody would ever complain" from past administrations "until you came along — me. They said, 'Now you're more than complaining. We don't like what you're doing.'"

Did you not even read about how China's global trade surplus only accounts for 1.4% of its GDP??? And please show me evidence about this multiplier effect costing China 2 trillion dollars from a major economic institution regarding the trade war. I have evidence backing up my claim, do you or are you just pulling these "facts" out of your arse again?

What I said is absolutely true, like it or not. Your beloved Iraq is the powder keg of the Middle East. Your beloved country is an mess even after tens of billions of dollars worth of foreign aid. If Iraq isn't a third world country mired with terrorism problems, then what is a third world country? Don't get angry at me for saying the truth. What I said originally was that there is absolutely no reason for China to give a stealth fighter to such a country. Do you think the United States would ever give a F-22 to some country like Iraq, even though its her ally?

Aoa

Maybe the US will lose less than the Chinese will economically, and maybe that is the goal.

However, what is not happening is that the Chinese are not going to be decisively crushed economically or otherwise by this. They are here to stay and have all the necessary ingredients to remain here including a massive growing domestic market.

This trade war will hurt the image of the US as a reliable and stable trade partner.

It's not just the Russians or the Iranians talking about international trade without getting the US involved but even the Germans. This, imho, is a far more serious a threat to US hegemony than anything else.

This process may further increase in momentum if the US continues on the present path. Whether it 'wins' this trade war or not wouldn't change much about that.

First of all you are an ignorant one
Second of all your beloved China is a third world country like or not
third of all Iraq tout you how to type tout you how to make soup par to clean your filth we tout you how to make wheel
fourth of all every country can get to our situation Russia was an example but they got a tough guy Putin who rebuild it
fifth of all without the West and their money you would still like Bangladesh with the lowest gdp per capeta

China should have responded by selling J-20s to Iran. And then HQ-19s, if more tariffs were imposed. And so on. And did the same to Assad and Iraq. That is how you defeat Washington criminals.

Simply go after the farmers in the States too.

There is sanctions on Iran, violating that will only hurt China in global arena, both diplomatically and economically.

Russia can't sell SU-30SMs to Iran or have Iranians make them in Iran, this is news to me. I wonder why that is in the news if it is impossible.

I thought the JCPOA cleared many of the sanctions.

. .
Zionist Netanyahu-lover Putin is not selling Assad S-300s, so Iran should not expect 3rd generation fighter sales to Iran from Russia, let alone 5th.
