Here in NYC I always came across Cantonese speakers, two of my closest friends in jr and high school were Cantonese speaking Chinese. In fact I always assumed Cantonese was the language of the Chinese in general because of the large number of Cantonese speakers I had come across and only learned later that it is actually a really small group compared to Mandarin speakers.

I agree, and I believe that Canton Heartland of China is the best representation of Chinese culture. The Cantonese language is the most beautiful dialects in China, in my personal opinion. The Cantonese are aggressive, hard working, and very industrious people.

You have got to be kidding me. Ask yourself and think hard - is it not true that Chinese are very well integrated into Filipino society? Is it not true that without China, the Philippines would have developed much more slowly the past few years? Is it not true that Chinese visitors to the Philippines are well behaved?

Integrated but separate, reminds me of something like the Apartheid system with the Tsinoys dominant in economically and politically and refuses to change the economic provisions of the country because they care more about the their own wealth and their race-compatriots' wealth.

The fishermen were not in undisputed Filipino territory. It is highly provocative for you to prosecute people from an unclear jursidiction under local law. If a Chinese committed a crime in Manila, for instance - nothing I can say. That's the whole question of extraterritorial rights.
