Hey buddy, could I ask: what is your opinion on Lee Kuan Yew?
Here in Hong Kong he is very highly regarded. For turning Singapore into an advanced economy.

Hey buddy, could I ask you something? As a Singaporean, what is your opinion on Lee Kuan Yew?

Deng Xiaoping asked China to learn from Singapore.
It will unlikely to be anytime soon that we will have any Indian PM mainly because the people in power within the party are predominately Chinese. But even if an Indian PM was elected so long as he represents the interest of Singapore it will not make much of a differences, bearing in mind regardless of who is the PM his decisions are still controlled by the party.
Mr. Lee, really had my respect, when he turned Singapore into a first world country. But that's about it.
His massive ego, including threatening an estate, the consequences of not voting for his party, really lost my respect. He plays dirty in politics, eliminating, and suing his opponents to bankruptcy. His party's policy, including high housing prices and an influx of foreign workers, have caused many Singaporeans to actually leave this country.
For me, its time for that old man to leave politics already, let the new generation rise, but that guy is really really stubborn. Honestly, he may have been looked up good from the outside, but if you come to Singapore, every Singaporean, in execption to the senior citizens, will tell you the he/she is waiting for his death.
Anyway, its no big deal, if an Indian becomes a president. We even had a president of Eurasian descendent The position of president, is in fact weak, and I myself hardly see itself, intervening in the policies implemented.
We just changed presidents anyway that said Mr Nathan did a good job while in office. Its no secret all power in Singapore is held by the Lee family and its the prime minister and senior ministers that hold the power (evident from the security personnel they have).
Ultimately be it Indians or Chinese that become the president it does not make any difference, truth be told the government needs to rotate the races of the presidents as we are a multicultural society. That said its unfortunate that there will be exclusions due to political motivations.
On my recent trip to China I did notice a large increase of Indians in the capital. Just 1 year ago I saw maybe 4 - 5 in the city but recently in the arrival at the airport alone I could see at least a good 15 - 20.
As a Malaysian, I've read a lot of comments about Lee Kuan Yew from the papers. He was rather anti-Muslim, ain't it?
But don't get me wrong, I really admire Lee Kuan Yew for the economic progression he has brought to Singapore. Great statesman.

I doubt very much he is anti Muslim but he did have a lot of rough patches with the Muslim leaders in Malaysia namely Mahathir. He was against communism in Singapore that part is pretty much assured.
Y Indians are curious about China?
