WASHINGTON: China is likely to consider establishing additional naval logistics hubs in countries with which it has a long-standing friendly relationship and similar strategic interests, “such as Pakistan”, according to a Pentagon report.

In its annual report to Congress on “Military and Security Developments in China”, the US Department of Defence claimed that China is looking for countries that have “a precedent for hosting foreign militaries.”

But the report also noted that “China’s overseas naval logistics aspiration may be constrained by the willingness of countries to support a (Chinese military) presence in one of their ports.”

The report pointed out that Pakistan remains China’s “primary customer” for conventional weapons and China engages in both arms sales and defence industrial cooperation with Pakistan.

This includes joint production of LY-80 surface-to-air missile systems, F-22P frigates with helicopters, main battle tanks, air-to-air missiles, and anti-ship cruise missiles. In June 2014, Pakistan started co-producing the first two of 50 Block 2 JF-17s, which is an upgraded version of the Block I JF-17, the report adds.

“We have noticed an increase in capability and force posture by the Chinese military in areas close to the border with India,” Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for East Asia Abraham M Denmark told reporters after submitting the report to Congress.

“It is difficult to say how much of this is driven by internal considerations to maintain internal stability, and how much of it is an external consideration,” he added.

The Pentagon report also highlights tensions between China and India as a cause of concern. “Tensions remain along disputed portions of the Sino-Indian border, where both sides patrol with armed forces,” it warns.

In October 2013, Chinese and Indian officials signed the Border Defence Cooperation Agreement, which supplements existing procedures managing the interaction of forces along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

What are the chances that Su-35 acquired from Russia will be stationed in Gwadar by PLAN?

Everyone knows that Pakistan and China are all weather friends :china::pakistan:

And Pakistan would welcome China with open arms, But the question is :

WILL Any such move make Pakistan more dependant on China OR Pakistan will gain an upper hand in Long Run.

China may build a naval base and few military bases in Kashmir side other than that there won't be much

WILL Any such move make Pakistan more dependant on China OR Pakistan will gain an upper hand in Long Run.

The answer is the later one

LOL How can Pakistan be dependant on China if we're the one who seek base in Pakistan, that is illogic, in contrary China will be dependant on Pakistan and not the other way.

America can have bases in 150+ countries in the world then why should China not have any bases. America is a bully and a constant pain the *** for us Pakistanis with the Presler Amendment and recent refusal to give us F-16s. Anything displacing their iron hold on power is a welcome development. If China is in a position to threaten the US we will fully support her

At least the base of a friend (China) wouldn't cause or result in terrorists for Pakistan as a gift that we had due to the bases of so called Friend since 1947. We trust China and indeed as many said, China has already many bases within the hearts of every Pakistani. Things turning into favour of Pakistan for which thanks to the US Congress as well.

This article is nothing but to stir up trouble between China, Pakistan and India, I wont take that seriously, the intention is pretty obvious, it's trying to promote mistrust and hatred among us and pull India closely to US side as what American official was trying to do by taking side with India over South Tibet (AP) issue.

i am against this move because chinies are first chinies then our friends. we have committed this blunder in the past as we had given bases to one power against another power and we got sandwiched between the two.And we are repeating the similar mistake.
china will serve their own interest not ours. Any skirmish between india and china will effect Pakistan too.
