China launches "Shijian VI-04" group satellites - People's Daily OnlineOctober 06, 2010

Long March 4B rocket carrying two satellites of the "Shijian VI-04" group lifts off from the launch pad in Taiyuan, capital of north China's Shanxi Province, Oct. 6, 2010. The satellites which have entered the space orbits will carry out probes on space environment and radiation and conduct space science experiments, according to the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center. Two launches in one week. This is the first time for China to match US in the frequency of launch. We may see 35 Russian launches, 19 American launches and 15 China launches this year. Compass-G4 from XSLC on October 30 is the next big deal.

"Ice. When you depressurize crygenic hydrogen and oxygen, they just get colder. You get condensation forming on the outside of the rocket so fast that ice forms. In the meantime, the rocket is making lots of noise (the Saturn V was the second loudest man made object) and has lots of vibration; knocking the ice free."
