China landed at Gawadar port

For Afghan trade through Iran, Chahbahar port does not really provide a major alternative. There are many bigger and better ports and port facilities on offer in other Iranian ports.

Which are those other Iranian ports better suited for Afghan trade, please tell me?

Even for an access to Central Asia, other major Iranian ports have already been connected with multiple transportation means as well as routes.

Afghanistan's survival as a trade and transportation hub will be more contingent on Gawadar than Chahbahar. Gawadar will be used both by Americans as well as the Chinese and all others.

While Gwadar still lacks any worthwhile transport connections to Afghanistan and is also surrounded by an insurgency-prone area!!!
That is "real reason" why PSA quit Gwadar. In the light of that Americans and Chinese will now just rush in?
Fools will rush in where Angels fear to tread!!

Unless of-course Iranians and Americans become Hindi-Cheeni Bhai Bhai.

Who knows, who can say?

Open up a map and check it for yourself.

You never know, Chinese may have retaken Gawadar and may now be preparing for its conversion to a deep water port.

Does this also signal the beginning of an end to Afghan imbroglio!

How has Chahbahar been a shock to Pakistan.

It is a shallow water port, which means large ships can not dock.

No trade, if at all, take place from this port to Afghanistan and beyond.

Because Pakistan don't want India in Afghanistan which never succeeded due to this port.

Zaranj-Dilaram road built by the Indians is hardly in trade transportation use.

The Iranians instead have linked the port to its internal cities.

Yes, Pakistanis are happily shocked, if that is what you mean.

Few months back we used Chabahar to export 100,000 tons of wheat to Afghanistan.

India will use Chabahar, not Gwadar and Afghans will prefer it to get alternate to Pakistan to reduce the dependence on Pakistan. The North-South corridor in Iran will further increase the importance of Chabahar which will connect it to other central Asian countries.

I wonder why Chinese never took control of Gwadar initially and why they never developed Gwadar like the way they developed Kyaukphyu in Myanmar into deep Sea portwith oil-Gas pipeline to Kunming and a rail line between Kyaukphyu and Kunming. They built the Gwadar port and left.

This can be compared to East India Company granting to establish a factory or trading post in coastal India.

Singapore based company withdraw from its 40 year lease agreement. Chinese state company bought the share and govt of Pakistan issue the NOC to this deal.
GeoTv.

It seems Chinese paid hefty amount to take over the port.

Can someone elaborate the deal please ....
