China is not Assam’s enemy: Hardline Ulfa - Hindustan Times

The Ulfa faction that is holding out against negotiations with the central government has said China is not an “enemy” of Assam but of India. The Paresh Barua-led wing of the Ulfa has also opposed the land acquisition drive for IAF bases in the state.

In view of China’s threat to the country’s northeastern region, particularly Arunachal Pradesh, the Centre has decided to improve infrastructure facilities for the IAF in Assam.

In an email to media houses, the faction’s publicity chief, Arunuday Dahotiya, said the Assam government, on the orders of the Centre, had been secretly acquiring land in Jorhat, Chabua and Tezpur.

“In the last few days, there (has been a) systematic campaign against China. The Indian government (is) demonising China in such a way that fear (grows among) the masses ... This is a move for land acquisition for IAF bases. China is not an enemy of Assam but an enemy of India. Indigenous Assamese have no need to fear China,” said Dahotiya.

Referring to the 1962 India-China war, Ulfa’s anti-talks faction said if the Chinese had any interest in the natural resources of Assam, it would have occupied the state then.

Intelligence agencies have from time to time said the anti-talks faction of Ulfa has China’s co-operation.

Coming heavily over the recent public concern of large scale land acquisition to set up Indian Air Force (IAF) bases in Assam, the hardliner anti-talk faction of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) has alleged that the Indian Security forces would not dare to set up IAF bases in Arunachal Pradesh due to the territorial dispute raised by China. The hardliner outfit also claimed that the propaganda of Chinese aggression on Assam is completely meaningless and that unlike India, China is not an enemy of Assam.

In an email statement sent by ULFA hardliners publicity chief Arunudoy Dohotia, the outfit claimed that if China had any interest in oil-coal rich resourceful Assam, they would have taken over the state in 1962 itself when Indian Army had fled from the battlefield and Nehru had given away the region to China. However the fact that China created history by not harming any indigenous people and returned back, where as Indian forces continues to harm the local interests by dictatorial rules such as the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) which shows the intentions of Indian rule, alleged the outfit.

The outfit appealed to the people of Assam to stand up united against the large scale acquisition of agricultural land in the state for Indian Air Force Bases, to be done at Tezpur, Chaboa and Jorhat and stated this has to be prevented, even at the cost of blood.

It is to be mentioned that Paresh Baruah, the supremo of the ULFA, is suspected to be in hiding in China with clear Chinese Government assistance. Various press release emails sent by the outfit has been traced to be sent from China in the past and sources have also revealed that Paresh Baruah has succeeded in taking away his family from Bangladesh to China.

On the other hand, ULFA’s open praise for China can be directly attributed to the growing influence of China on the rebel outfits of north east India. According to sources, the Chinese authorities have asked the major armed rebel outfits of North East India to come to a common platform. As per reports, all major militant outfits of Manipur have already joined hands and come under a common platform and ULFA and few outfits of Tripura have joined with the group too.

It is obvious China is NOT Assam's enemy, but rather a friend. It is India that is Assam's enemy, as is obvious for the local indigenous population against foreign (illegal) settlers from India displacing them.

China is not India's enemy leave aside Assam, why don't this troll get this in his head.

ULFA has lost all it's bites and support from local Assamese long ago due to its policies and internal strives. After the present Bangladeshi Government's sincere effort to purge them out from the jungles of Northern Bangladeshi hill tracts, these militant outfits had lost their safe heavens too. So,nobody simply care what these nincompoops say today.

Lol ULFA has failed to carry out a single major attack in the past 12 months.

ULFA? LOL haven't heard from them in years. Hafizzz is really scraping the bucket here.

Haven't we like completely finished off Ulfa or something?

Yeah, we have ... they are now nothing but a barking dog with no guts to bite... most of their leaders have surrendered arms and the rest fled to neighbor countries to save their a** from IA's counter insurgency operation ...

I highly doubt if he is still useful to PLA ... :disagree:

These separatists do not enjoy popular support in Assam. In fact, they are themselves killing countless innocent Assamese all the time. Local Assamese cooperate with security agencies in giving them the location of separatist guerrillas so they kill innocent Assamese out of revenge and frustration.
