China is building a road over the Wakhjir pass into Wakhan

Should be linked with Chitral and Tajikistan. Afghans could be paid for transit trade, but having the shortest route between the three countries opens up other economic and geo-political options Tajikistan may not want to pass up.

At the very least a link with Chitral creates another potential supply route (this one the furthest from the LOC) to and from China in the event of heightened tensions with India.

The Taliban need reconciliation and cooperation with Tajikistan, otherwise the lithium mine in Afghanistan will not be available. Lithium mining requires a lot of water resources, and only Tajikistan has sufficient water resources in Central Asia.

Unless Pakistan pressures both sides to talk they would prefer to avoid each other. Tajikistan will be sulking for atleast few years until they are ready to engage with IEA but if there are huge deals in the pipeline I am pretty sure the entire region will pressure them to shake hands and move on.. But Tajikistan will be sulking and in my honest opinion they are big babies and IEA knows they will be sulking hence they don't want to appraoch them until for few years I mean 1-2 decades but if deals come thru the pipeline than the region has to force Emomali Rahmon out of his sulking

central Asia is way too dry with anticipation of water wars in the near future (Russia keeps the peace for now)
Pakistan is a water country but I guess we are way too far from the lithium mining regions
tricky situation

55.4% of Central Asia's water resources are in Tajikistan. You can confirm it with Google.
ofcourse they do but they dont have infrastructure to use most of it
