Small correction. Its China and Bhutan that patrol the said area. As was earlier. Hence the status quo. Just no road was India's demand.

First of all you must know
1. It's a Bhutanise territory claimed by Chin . Both patrol this area .

2. India went to Doklam in June at the request of Bhutan to prevent Chin to stop buliding a road and thereby usurping the land using the road as pretext .

3. Today Chin agreed not to change the status quo of the area and to stop building a road that can support a heavy vehicle movements .

4. Consequently Indian troop withdrew from Doklam after handing over the patrolling task to Bhutan .

Agreement is, Chinese troops will continue to patrol the area and Indians will go back.

Chinese have made mistakes. They didn't come fully prepared. Now they have learned the lesson.
