Because Chinese like me think that the foundation that Chairman Mao laid is more important than what Deng Xiaoping did.
Hard work: literally, Chairman Mao banned opium and other drugs that flooded before 1949. This alone increased at least one-third of China's labor force. After all, you can't expect a dizzy person to work hard.
Morality: also literally, the Chinese people in 1949 were very simple. Chairman Mao destroyed the moral values of the old times (including but not limited to the parents' decision on the marriage of their children, the elders of the family could kill the younger generation at will, and the fate of ordinary people in the countryside was determined by the local big family rather than the government). It is very important that everyone has the right to express his or her own opinions. Otherwise, a man who could have been a scientist would have been forced by his family to farm at the age of 21 to support his 16-year-old wife and five children.
Gender Equality: half of the population in a country does not have to do housework and take care of children all their life. Instead, they do most of the work with the same pay as men. That is, women can hold up half of the sky. Is there any more to say?
I would also like to add some of Chairman Mao's great contributions:
Eliminate a large number of infectious diseases with high mortality rate: the average life expectancy of China was only 35 years during the Republic of China, and 68 years when Chairman Mao died.
Carry out extensive education to provide enough educated and disciplined workers for the future reform and opening up: in 1949, 80% of China's total population was illiterate. By the death of Chairman Mao in 1978, the illiteracy rate of China's young and middle-aged people had dropped to 18.5%. The literacy rate of China 42 years ago was higher than that of India in 2020.
Design and plan a large number of reservoirs and dams in China: in August 1931, 140000 people were drowned in the Yangtze River flood alone, and 141 people died in 2020.
Building China's industrial base: China does not need to import rifles and bullets like India does. China's foreign exchange can be used to buy new technologies and raw materials.
No, I would say the people: every one of us!
