China & France pledge to deepen military ties

Chinese and French military leaders have pledged to deepen army relations during the 10th strategic dialogue between the countries' defense ministries.

The two-day dialogue, starting here Wednesday, was co-chaired by Deputy Chief of General Staff of the People's Liberation Army of China Ma Xiaotian and Deputy Chief of Staff of the French Army Philippe Combes.

During the dialogue, the two parties discussed defense policies and army construction, regional security and international hot issues, as well as furthering China-France military relations.

The two sides agreed the dialogue mechanism was favorable for deepening strategic mutual trust and broadening areas for cooperation. It was also of positive significance for the two countries in building a new, mature and stable comprehensive strategic partnership based on mutual trust and mutual benefit and with a global perspective.

The next round of the strategic dialogue will be held in Beijing in 2012.

China, France pledge to deepen military ties

For fifteen years Americans referred to the French as "cheese-eating surrender monkeys" and while the Chinese were a bit puzzled by this (as in, "if I start eating cheese pizza will I surrender, too?") they did not disagree. The War Against Qaddafi has put a stop to that - at least while Sarkozy is president.

While working for a French Company - Astom SA, they prefer to speak Malay to us rather than using English.

On topic, France has always support China even when the West were embargo against China. French origin design equipment are very much in evidence, as in Z-8 and Z-9 helicopters. May be because Socialism is strong in France, and they don't like English speaking country to lead them in global politics.

Sarkozy is weak, changes policies depending public opinion, has no views of his own(or rather dare not follow his own views). France won't be great while he is president, they miss their chance to lead before the European economic crisis to stand apart, now with the crisis, it is impossible(too expensive) to lead, opportunity missed.

Germany instead look more reliable, yes they only care about money atm, but that is a language the Chinese understand.

I wanted to point that out too, but you beat me to it. Yes despite the embargoes, the level of cooperation underneath the table have always been high. We even share similarities in technologies incorporated into some of our submarines.

French thru out history have a habbit of being a snitch , and lotas ...they change alliances like people change underwear

But they are always better then Canadians

the French would sell their own mothers for a dime. Remember the Scorpene sub deals? Sell the subs to India and then sell ASW platforms to Pakistan. Its business which can be a bad thing. While it may sound like a good idea not to take sides, one must also kick ethics and morality out the door. Like Nixon did, Bush and so forth just to play the game. Also, those helecopter deals are all over the world and not part of the military embargos of 1991. I believe within this decade, Europe may just drop the embargo pending on how well the Chinese do on their own defence projects with or without Russian collaboration.

Unlike our US friends, France do not sell or market ideology - they just seem to want to do business that's good for the French. All interested readers will want to understand how after being literally shattered, Indo-China/Algeria, the French remade themselves, created a new France, not one with a external empire, but one with an internal focus on creating a world class technology(know how creating) based economy. Maybe others can learn from that example.

Really? thats a good thing in your opinon? not to have ethic? so you support the war in Iraq for oil despite the lose of civilian life?
The arming of genocidal regimes in Africa because they can pay for it with diamonds?
How do you expect a future for humanity with out the humanity? individual profit verses the greater good of all. take your side.
