LOL, China has had ICBM's & multiple-megaton nuclear warheads, since the 1970's.

By enemy defence you mean Chinese defence ? Then you should be knowing better

We should have minimum deterrence against all the enemies.
Between we don't need thousand bombs, just 20 are enough.
Suppose we fire 20 as missile warheads towards a country, and missile defense takes out 10 still we will be left with 10 bombs for top 10 cities of the enemy country.
That would be good deterrent.
No country, no matter how much developed they are, they will not want to lose a single city.

we need no offensive capability. Just minimum deterrence is enough to keep the adversaries away.
In case of a nuclear strike, we should have the capability to do 'unacceptable damages' to the enemy.

Having said that, China has everything to worry from Indian nukes once Agni-V is inducted. It's not like that they're immune to nukes. If pushed to the corner, India would use eveything it got.
