China doesn’t want financial aid package to be made public: PM

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that China has barred the government from disclosing the amount of financial assistance given in the aid package owing to concerns from Beijing’s regional partners, Express News reported.



When asked during a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party meeting in Islamabad on Thursday, the premier said that China has given an aid package like never before, adding that, Beijing does not want the exact figure of the aid to be disclosed.

Talking about the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP)-led protests against the acquittal of Aasia Bibi, PM Imran said that the government had to tread issue carefully because of the sensitivity of the matter.



He added that the protesters had been paid to take part in the sit-ins.

The prime minister went on to say that if the protests had not ended, it would have left the country ungovernable.

PM Imran said that after coming into the government, he has come to know of the scale of corruption committed under the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) tenure.

Now the media reports of their corruption pale in comparison to the actual figures, he added.

The government, the premier said, would not allow plunderers of the public wealth to be spared.

If you listen to Asad Umar he has said the country is now out of the 'insolvent' mode and in fact afford to be bullish with IMF. I actually do think the Chinese have agree to give sums but like KSA want it to remain anbigious lest others want similiar deals. For instance the three year $3 billion defered oil facility to Pakistan will be converted into grant later on amounting into a figure of $12 billion over three years. We can expect similiar figures from China and a policy to reduce the trade deficit with China over the coming years. I am glad that as this pans out the PTI government can now begin to concentrate on it's core agenda. Education, poverty allieviation, housing, health and improving governance.

KSA term 6 billion for one year and that money will be returned at the end of 2019. But, Pakistan has to buy oil from KSA, nobody else. And support the exile govt of Yemen, Hadi .Khan will try to convince all groups in Yemen to accept Hadi as president of Yemen. . ...

Agreed. China looks at the bigger picture and firmly follow the Sun Tzu Art of War that dictates that one hidden weapon is worth a hundred open weapon. It also dictates that you should make loyal friends stronger for they will double your strength in times of war.
