China: Diplomat beaten, injured by Houston police

Isn't our Human race the best ? Hurting our own kind we feel we have superiority over ?

. . .
^ The case is not that he was apprehended, but that he was INJURED.

it will be interesting to see what the injury is. if it is merely putting the hand cuffs on to tight. if the diplomat resisted arrest and got a night stick up side the head. or was pepper sprayed. He definitely should have stopped when they tried to pull him over. With diplomatic immunity the matter would have been settled quickly.

.
the police in the US are known for their brutality. much moreso than in china where they don't even carry guns on duty most of the time.

More of your made up 'facts'.

Stop being a fundamentalist!

While Chinese policemen are no holy cows, only US police can thrust a club into victim’s anus like sub-human… Face the ugly fact!

Gambit, gpit seriously calls for an IP check. He's been hiding long behind the American flag and spewing venom against all. He seriously needs some treatment, gitmo type.

.
why? he stated a fact. i backed mine up with links. chinese police don't carry guns on patrol, they're stored in a cabinet at the station and reserved for armed criminals and kidnappers.

what has gpit done wrong? american police HAVE done that before.

should we talk abut indian police instead?

This is where your dishonesty shines. The only reason why people like you can make ridiculous assertions like American local police forces are the most brutal in the world is simply because they are the most watched by various civil rights organizations, local and national, who are too eager to expand the definitions of torture or brutality and broadcast their opinions of the same.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? is a Latin phrase from the Roman poet Juvenal, which is literally translated as "Who will guard the guards themselves?"
Chinese policemen need not to be holy cows. They just need either gullible or dishonest people like you to distract attention away from their far more brutal methods against Chinese citizens.

.
right. all the brutality is too much to bear, that's why the diplomat was not beaten by chinese police but the US police.

the US police are also adept at killing 16 year olds with toy handguns, beating up defenseless kids and shooting hostages instead of the criminals, but when it comes time to prevent massacres like Columbine and V Tech, where's the big police?

.
If this were American diplomats in sayyy Iran, war drums would be beating.

While the event demands a thorough probe and an apology from the US government, I just wanted to correct a fact. There is no US mission in Tehran. It was closed in the wake of the 1979 hostage crisis.

The Rodney King incident was not made up, was it ?

Police brutality and torture can never be entirely eliminated nor can racism be eliminated from society. While it occurs throughout the world, prevalence and control are the key factors. In the developing world especially in totalitarian and security states, police torture is highly prevalent and neither is their any overseeing mechanism nor are their efforts to control it. Police throughout the subcontinent was raised by the British to control and discipline the people has hardly changed its mentality and system of policing where beating and torture remain prevalent, primary methods of interrogation and a common threat to the public to obey the power of the policeman.

LOL!

Are you telling us that US police brutalities are all publicized?

I have a good friend who is very sociable and active. He told me that his former friend, the former police chief of my township, had sex with 14-year-old girl and went to jail. I'd never heard of that before he told me. I simply told my friend, telling your friend when he gets out, stop being sub-human, stop being an animal.

China has the biggest internet users, anybody can post anything on the web. I see numerous crying-outs regarding police brutalities in China. But I have never seen a policeman assault victims anus, as only sub-human in US police can invent and think of doing that.

Be a human being yourself for a while and tell us whether the following description is dramatized, or is "too eager to expand the definitions of torture or brutality":

...

The arresting officers beat Louima with their fists, nightsticks, and hand-held police radios on the ride to the station.[2] On arriving at the station house, he was strip-searched and put in a holding cell. The beating continued later, culminating with Louima being sexually assaulted in a bathroom at the 70th Precinct station house in Brooklyn. Volpe kicked Louima in the testicles, then, while Louima's hands were cuffed behind his back, he first grabbed onto and squeezed his testicles and then sodomized him with a broken broom stick, causing severe internal damage to his colon and bladder that required several operations to repair. Volpe then walked through the precinct holding the bloody, excrement-stained instrument in his hand, indicating that he had "broke a man down."

So are you telling us that all Chinese police brutalities are open for everyone to see? It is telling that you cannot even see how you debunked your own argument.

Torture in China

According to a 2005 report by Manfred Nowak, the first United Nations human rights investigator to visit China, torture by authorities on detainees is widespread and “a culture of fear” is pervasive. According to the report such abuses can only be eliminated by overhauling criminal laws, giving more power to judges and abolishing labor camps. Nowak complained that there were numerous attempts to “obstruct or restrict” his investigation.

Torture methods used by Chinese authorities, according to the United Nations, have included denying food; using electric shocks, sleep deprivation, burning cigarettes, hoods, and blindfolds; submersing detainees in water or sewage; denying medical treatment, forcing detainees to maintain awkward position for long periods of time; exposing them to extreme heat and cold, and forcing prisoners to squat in a small metal box for days. People sentenced to death or waiting for an appeal are regularly handcuffed and shackled for 24 hours a day and can not eat or use a toilet without the help of other prisoners. Most tortures are designed not to leave any visible marks or scars.
Oh yeah...Chinese police are sooooo much more 'civilized'.

Hi,

No it was not---the cops were just unlucky to get video taped---.

The problem with american police force is that it recruits a lots of retd millitary servicement---or those who have completed their 4 or 8 year stints. When they join the police----they are still in their millitary mindset---the civilians that they look at are not to be served---they are rather enemy combatants and thus neutralized as such.

If the recuitment standards change in the u s and the millitary culture is diminished, it might bring about some change---but won't be much.
