In a quiet move, China has deployed about 11,000 troops in the strategic Gilgit-Baltistan region in the Occupied Kashmir to take de-facto control of the key area, where a rebellion is simmering against the Pakistani rule.

The New York Times said that there were two important new developments in Gilgit-Baltistan; a simmering rebellion against the Pakistani rule and the influx of an estimated 7,000 to 11,000 soldiers of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in the area, which is closed to the world.

"China wants a grip on the strategic area to assure unfettered road and rail access to the Gulf through Pakistan", the paper said, and for this purpose is building high-speed rail and road link.

The link up would enable Beijing to transport cargo and oil tankers from eastern China to the new Chinese built Pakistani Naval base at Gawadar, Pasni and Ormara in Balochistan, just east of the Gulf in 48 hours.

"Many of the PLA soldiers entering Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to work on the railroad. Some are extending the Karakoram Highway, built to link China's Xinjiang province with Pakistan. Others are working on dams, expressways and other project," the paper said.

It said that mystery surrounds the construction of 22 tunnels in secret locations, where even Pakistanis are barred.

Tunnels would be necessary for a projected gas pipeline from Iran to China that would cross the Karakorams through Gilgit.

"But they could be also used for missiles storage sites," the Times said.

So far, the paper quoting foreign intelligence sources, Pakistani media and Pakistani Human Rights groups, said the PLA construction crews had been living in temporary encampments and went home after completing their assignments.

Just saw a debate on this issue in Aaj Tak, an Indian news channel. Could you provide a source?

Even if this news is true, I'm sure my govt. and army must be doing somthing about it. Let's wait and watch how things shape up. :what:

Kashmir is control by three country ,India 45%,Pakistan 33%,and China 22%.the border of sino-pak was signed in 1963.Nothing will happen after signed, but for India the border still a question.

Chinese are not a threat for Pakistan. Even if they are there, we are sure they will be only helping Pakistan in one way or the other. Strategically, we have nothing to loose to them and historically, our cooperation only produced good for both of us.

That might be quiet but its a welcomed move. Now if Chinese are also entering into Kashmir.. I think India must be smoking through every hole it has.

I would want China to have still higher stakes in Paksitan. We have a security threat from USA through Afghanistan and we are always watchful about the acts they do in Pakistan. Chinese presence in Pakistan would be a stabelizing factor for us. We have nothing but only hope and warmth for the country that holds this flag. :china:

First the news is big fail with no creditable sources and who ever composed it was high in cheap quality crack.

Lets see what china is doing in GB???
Building roads and railways??

Where will these railways link too??
China definately?

What are the obstructions in between??
Mountains

So whats needs to be done??
Digging tunnels.

The PLA soldiers are more likely from engineering crops coming to construct massive tunnels through mountains. PLA has good experience in this.

China understands Pakistan, we value the friendship with Pakistan, which is rare in the real world.

But he is only doing infrastructure in China and Pakistan border, only PLA's engineering unit, because the poor working environment, as the Karakoram Highway in 1966.

See this discussion.

This is only ill minded propaganda against China & Pakistan, where India ever tried to scroll the news and information. There is no solid source i found from western press and in international media about this well planned propaganda so sit back guys and take rest :coffee:. Never mind it is one of the Indian habits to sabotage even cooperative & rescue operations of Pak-china. Moreover India must be not concern in our nation matters.:azn:

In fact this is rebound answer of India to Chine on visa refusal for their general of Northern command.

Occupied Kashmir refers to Srinagar and the areas of Kashmir where india sends millions of its troops to murder innocent Kashmiris.

this thread should be closed. once again, indian media and its pathetic lies

I'm pretty sure this is pure BS, it wouldn't be the first time American Newspaper churn out BS about Pakistan, what really gives the credibility of the article away is the fact that there is NO rebellion of any sort against Pakistan, infact those people were so happy last year over being declared a Pakistani possession. But, if the Chinese are entering in the numbers stated, i'm still not concerned, China is our all-weather ally and I trust them............

The Indian media has indeed picked up the story (a mere opinion piece in the New York Times) and run with it. There is obviously a market for stories of this sort in India. What is interesting is that the Indian Governmnet appears more cautious and wants independent confirmation.
