In its bid to become self-reliant in manufacturing microchips, experts fear that Chinacould use military force to gain control over Taiwan's semiconductor industry. Taiwanis currently the largest global producer of microchips that power cars, phones and computers.

Martijn Rasser, a senior fellow at the Washington-based think tank Center for a New American Security said microchips will be crucial for developing technology going forward, the Express reported citing his interview with Fox News. "By gaining control over Taiwan's semiconductor industry, China would control the global market. They would have access to the most advanced manufacturing capabilities and that is even more valuable than controlling the world's oil," he said.

Meanwhile, Taiwan is currently preparing for an ever more likely military invasion from China. Taiwan's Foreign Minister, Joseph Wu, warned that China seems to be preparing for their final military assault against Taiwan.

"We are trying to make more investment in our military, especially the asymmetric type of warfare to deter the Chinese from thinking about using military force against Taiwan," he said in a statement. Beijing claims full sovereignty over Taiwan, a democracy of almost 24 million people located off the southeastern coast of mainland China, despite the fact that the two sides have been governed separately for more than seven decades.

Taipei, on the other hand, has countered the Chinese aggression by increasing strategic ties with democracies including the US, which has been repeatedly opposed by Beijing. (ANI)

A BS article though, all Taiwan businesses are closely linked with the Chinese mainland, Mainland doesn't need the military means to control Taiwan's semiconductor industry.

TSMC is in fact started by Chinese who came to Taiwan during the civil war from Shanghai, China back in 1949.

In fact many of the other critical process including etching and packaging machineries used in its high edge 5nm < lithography are sourced from China apart from its ASML EUV.
The only technology that is USA is its EDA tools software. It can source its Photoresist from Japan and not necessarily US Monsanto.

China is surging forward in its R&D and march towards 3rd generation chips manufacturing capability whereas Taiwan is now the world leader in 2nd generation process.
It has reached its limit in Moore's Law.

Most Taiwanese esp. KMT are aware of their Chinese roots. Hence many of them went back to China and nkw refused to return.

Those who are still in denial, etc have something in common, ignorance or they are hybrid meaning their partial Japanese ancestry.
When Japan annexed Taiwan from China, the people at Tainan resisted. Many died and the females were raped and impregnated by the invaders.
Their descendants are confused lot. They worship the country of their rapist fathers as Mainland China was very poor then.

Good people of taiwan want to have peace and reunited with mainland China. Bad people of taiwan will make up fake news , lying and fabricate fake information just to smear mainland Chinese. We have seen enough of those despicable idiots play victim everyday.

If US is really keen on defending Taiwan. They shall recognised Taiwan as independent country and give a clear message that they will declare war on PRC China if we use force to reclaim Taiwan.

TSMC, Japan etc don't have any technology. They are USA slaves and simply rely on USA equipments to manufacture the chips. These are just providing labour and don't have their own technology. Even invading them will not give any technology. It may only end up giving a bunch of lithographic machines which will just be temporary capacity as China will not be able to repair or make more of these machines. Packaging and other materials are made even by Malaysia as they are low technology items.

It is only partially true.
The DUV and EUV lithography machines used by TSMC are not from USA but Nederland.
Japan do have its own proprietary DUV lithography machine e.g. Nikon, Canon, etc
in fact Japanese firm like ToK, Shin-Etsu, controlled 90% of all photoresist for EUV. the rest comes from USA Monsanto.
These Japan lithography machine lacks in demand rather than technology.
With its breakthrough in 2020 China is now the new comer and competitor for Japan. That is proving worrisome for Japan photoresist manufacturers.

USA dominated in EDA tools software but these are not hardwares as falsely printed.
This software is the tools USA is talking about.
Apart from EUV lithography, today China can practically replaced all these equipment with its homegrown IPR equipment. China has successfully developed its own proprietary EDA tools softwares. When TSMC started using China own EDA Tools software, USA will lost total control. Hence it is moving towards politics.

China own proprietary LPP lithography will soon be able to substitute EUV by ASML. It needs more time but China may leapfrogged this 2nd generation process altogether.

That is why the CEO of ASML is so worried. Once China own equipment comes on line, the day of ASML core business may be over.
Moore's Law has reached its limit.
